Curettage of molluscum contagiosum in children: analgesia by topical application of a lidocaine/prilocaine cream (EMLA).
The analgesic effect of a lidocaine/prilocaine cream (EMLA) for the curettage of molluscum contagiosum was evaluated in 55 children aged 3-14 years. Five to 25 molluscs per child were covered with a maximum of 10 g EMLA cream one hour before the operation. ⋯ Mild vasoreactions such as pallor, redness or oedema were observed locally at the treated skin areas. The results show that EMLA cream provided effective local anaesthesia for the curettage of molluscs.

Selenium, zinc, iron and copper levels in serum of patients with arterial and venous leg ulcers.
The total serum concentrations of selenium, zinc, iron and copper were determined in geriatric patients with and without leg ulcers. The levels of selenium, zinc and iron were significantly lower and the copper/zinc ratio was significantly higher in the leg ulcer group compared with control patients. The serum-copper level and the serum-copper/zinc ratio were raised in patients with poor ulcer healing.

Case ReportsRecurrent cutaneous jellyfish eruptions without envenomation.
Three patients exhibiting recurrent cutaneous eruptions induced by contact with jellyfish tentacles are presented. The recurrent eruptions appeared several days after the primary exposure without contact with any offending coelenterate. ⋯ These three cases, combined with an earlier similar report of recurrent lesions induced by Physalia physalis suggest that this phenomenon may be widespread. In two of the three cases, the secondary eruption was more severe than that occurring after the primary envenomation.

Retinoid dermatitis mimicking progression in mycosis fungoides: a report from the Scandinavian Mycosis Fungoides Group.
A dermatitis occurring during the treatment of mycosis fungoides with A vitamin analogues (13-cis-retinoic acid and etretinate) and mimicking a progression of the disease is described. It is considered to be a skin reaction due to the treatment. Its benign nature is revealed by histology showing a lymphocytic infiltrate without any atypical sign.

Loss of bullous pemphigoid antigen in peritumoral lacunas of basal cell carcinomas.
Peritumoral lacunas of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) were for a long time misinterpreted as fixation artifacts. However, recent studies showed that they might be considered as a dynamic process related to degenerescence for the palisade cells. We studied three antigens of the epidermal basement membrane zone--type IV collagen, laminin, and bullous pemphigoid antigen--by indirect immunofluorescence in six cases of basal cell carcinoma. ⋯ Bullous pemphigoid antigen showed either a linear continuous or discontinuous staining pattern along the basement membrane zone of the carcinomatous buds. At the site of a peritumoral lacuna bullous pemphigoid antigen abruptly disappeared. The loss of bullous pemphigoid antigen might be related to the lacuna formation.
