Lumbopelvic pain associated with catastrophizing and fear-avoidance beliefs in early pregnancy.
To examine and compare levels of catastrophizing, fear-avoidance beliefs, physical ability, and health-related quality of life in women with and without lumbopelvic pain (LP and NLP) in early pregnancy. ⋯ It is important to consider exaggerated negative thoughts about pain experiences and fear-avoidance beliefs when treating women with LP during pregnancy and to be aware of the great impact lumbopelvic pain has on women's lives during early pregnancy.

Randomized Controlled TrialEfficacy and tolerability of oral bovine lactoferrin compared to ferrous sulfate in pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia: a prospective controlled randomized study.
To compare the effects of bovine lactoferrin with ferrous sulfate on iron nutritional status and to evaluate their tolerability in 100 pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia. ⋯ The results show that bovine lactoferrin has the same efficacy as ferrous sulfate in restoring iron deposits with significantly fewer gastrointestinal side effects.

To investigate the use of oxytocin for augmentation of labor and its relation to labor progress and delivery outcome. ⋯ Oxytocin augmentation was undertaken in an unstructured manner; some women were inadequately treated and others were treated unnecessarily. Oxytocin recipients with LD underwent operative delivery to a higher extent than oxytocin recipients without LD, suggesting that the main reason for CS was the underlying problem of LD rather than the oxytocin augmentation itself.

Review Meta AnalysisSystematic review of progesterone for the prevention of preterm birth in singleton pregnancies.
A Cochrane review in 2006 concluded that further knowledge is required before recommendation can be made with regard to progesterone in the prevention of preterm birth. ⋯ In women with a singleton pregnancy and previous preterm delivery, progesterone reduces the rates of preterm delivery before 32 weeks, perinatal death, as well as respiratory distress syndrome and necrotizing enterocolitis in the newborn. Women with a short cervix or preterm labor may also benefit from progesterone, but further evidence is needed to support such a recommendation. Follow-up studies should focus on possible metabolic complications in the mother or the offspring.
