Comparison of three accelerated pulse sequences for semiquantitative myocardial perfusion imaging using sensitivity encoding incorporating temporal filtering (TSENSE).
To investigate the parallel acquisition technique sensitivity encoding incorporating temporal filtering (TSENSE) with three saturation-recovery (SR) prepared pulse sequences (SR turbo fast low-angle shot [SR-TurboFLASH], SR true fast imaging with steady precession [SR-TrueFISP], and SR-prepared segmented echo-planar-imaging [SR-segEPI]) for semiquantitative first-pass myocardial perfusion imaging. ⋯ Semiquantitative myocardial perfusion imaging can significantly benefit from TSENSE due to shorter acquisition times and increased linearity of the pulse sequences. Among the three pulse sequences tested, SR-TrueFISP yielded best image quality. SR-segEPI proved to be an interesting alternative due to shorter acquisition times, higher linearity and fewer dark-banding artifacts.

Three dimensional myoarchitecture of the human tongue determined in vivo by diffusion tensor imaging with tractography.
To study the anatomical relationships involving the intrinsic and extrinsic myofiber populations of the human tongue employing diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) with tractography. ⋯ The current results display for the first time the use of DTI tractography in vivo to visualize the complete structural anatomy of the human tongue and allow us to consider fundamental structure-function relationships.

Comparative StudyWhole-body MR imaging vs. FDG-PET: comparison of accuracy of M-stage diagnosis for lung cancer patients.
To conduct a prospective comparison of the accuracy of whole-body MR imaging and positron emission tomography (PET) with fluorine-18 deoxyglucose (FDG) (FDG-PET) to assess the M-stage in lung cancer patients. ⋯ Whole-body MR imaging is an accurate diagnostic technique and may be considered at least as effective as FDG-PET for assessment of the M-stage of lung cancer patients.

High-resolution MRI of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) at 3T: comparison of surface coil and volume coil.
To evaluate high-resolution MRI of the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) at 3T using a surface coil (SC) or volume coil (VC). ⋯ SC may provide superior qualitative and quantitative results and can be an alternative in case of difficulty in prone position at 3T.

To demonstrate that the use of nonquantitative methods in oxygen-enhanced (OE) lung imaging can be problematic and to present a new approach for quantitative OE lung imaging, which fulfills the requirements for easy application in clinical practice. ⋯ For the purpose of intersubject comparison, OE lung imaging should be performed quantitatively. The proposed hybrid technique produced reliable quantitative results in a short amount of time and, therefore, is suited for clinical use.
