Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyHemodynamic stability during biventricular pacing after cardiopulmonary bypass.
To assess the stability of cardiac output, mean arterial pressure, and systemic vascular resistance during biventricular pacing (BiVP) optimization. ⋯ BiVP optimization may be done safely in patients after CPB. With continuous monitoring of mean arterial pressure and cardiac output, the procedure results in no harmful hemodynamic perturbation.

Comparative StudyEstimating the volume of chronic pleural effusions using transesophageal echocardiography.
To develop a simple method of quantifying the volume of chronic pleural effusions caused by heart failure using transesophageal echocardiography measurement of the maximum cross-sectional area of the pleural effusion. ⋯ This study showed a simple way of quantifying the volume of chronic pleural effusions from heart failure in patients undergoing cardiac surgery, with potential for clinical applications.
