Observational StudyContinuous Monitoring of Lactate Using Intravascular Microdialysis in High-Risk Cardiac Surgery: a Prospective Observational Study.
To assess the accuracy and applicability of a novel system, not requiring calibration, for continuous lactate monitoring with intravascular microdialysis in high-risk cardiac surgery. ⋯ Lactate concentration increased significantly after high-risk cardiac surgery. The intravascular microdialysis technique for lactate measurement provided acceptable accuracy and can be used for continuous blood lactate monitoring in cardiac surgery.

Use of Postoperative Peak Arterial Lactate Level to Predict Outcome After Cardiac Surgery.
In the present study, the authors investigated the predictive value of postoperative peak arterial lactate levels for early and late mortality after cardiac surgery. ⋯ Postoperative peak arterial lactate level in patients undergoing cardiac surgery is an independent predictor for both early and late mortality.

Observational StudyPreoperative Electrocardiogram Score for Predicting New-Onset Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation in Patients Undergoing Cardiac Surgery.
To investigate if electrocardiogram (ECG) markers from routine preoperative ECGs can be used in combination with clinical data to predict new-onset postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) following cardiac surgery. ⋯ ECG markers obtained from a routine preoperative ECG may be helpful in predicting new-onset POAF in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
