Observational StudyIntegrating Right Ventricular Pressure Waveform Analysis With Two-Point Volume Measurement for Quantification of Systolic and Diastolic Function: Experimental Validation and Clinical Application.
To define in an experimental model the variance, accuracy, precision, and concordance of single-beat measures of right ventricular (RV) contractility and diastolic capacitance relative to conventional reference standards, and apply the methods to a clinical data set. ⋯ Study results supported the possibility of integrating automated RV pressure analysis with RV volume measured by 3D echocardiography to create a comprehensive assessment of RV systolic and diastolic function at the bedside.

Diagnosing cardiac masses, especially those related to cardiac tumors, is often challenging in clinical practice. Though myxomas are the most common and well-known benign cardiac tumors, other rare and often-neglected tumors can be difficult to diagnose. In this case report, the authors describe a left ventricular cardiac mass with unique and striking imaging features.

Association Between Preoperative Sarcopenia and Early Postoperative Outcomes in Pediatric Patients Undergoing Total Correction of Tetralogy of Fallot: A Retrospective Cohort Study.
To identify the association between preoperative low muscle mass and early postoperative outcomes in pediatric patients undergoing total correction of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). ⋯ The incidence of sarcopenia, as assessed by preoperative chest CT, was low in pediatric patients undergoing total correction of TOF, and preoperative sarcopenia did not predict early postoperative major adverse events.

International Survey on Perioperative Management of Patients With Infective Endocarditis.
To estimate the current practice in the perioperative management of patients undergoing cardiac surgery due to infective endocarditis. ⋯ This international survey evaluated current practice among cardiac anesthesiologists in the perioperative management of patients with infective endocarditis and the anesthesiologist's role in multidisciplinary decision-making. Heterogeneity in treatment approaches was identified, indicating relevant knowledge gaps that should encourage further clinical research to optimize treatment and postoperative outcomes in this specific population.
