To find the variability in women's appearance at three moments of their life cycle and its relationship with practices aiming at weight loss, analysing the efficacy of this behaviour. ⋯ Physical appearance varies between young women and women over 45, in that the former are taller, thinner and with a straighter figure. Despite this, young women develop behaviour designed to lose weight much more often than older women, with an earlier starting age and more rapidly, which can have serious health consequences.

[Hypertension in the elderly and health global results with different pharmacological therapies].
To describe the benefits of treatment for hypertension in the elderly, the most efficient drugs, those most widely used in clinical practice to reduce morbi-mortality taken from the literature. ⋯ Treatment with drugs in hypertense elderly people is beneficial in terms of mortality and morbidity. Treatment with low dose diuretics, with or without potassium savers, is the elective treatment for hypertension in elderly patients.

[ADA criteria undervalues the impact of diabetes in a high-risk Spanish population].
The main aim was to investigate the prevalence of abnormal glucose homeostasis (impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance and undiagnosed diabetes) on high-risk Spanish population. The second, to determine the prevalence and usefulness of classical risk factors for diabetes screening according WHO and ADA criteria and to evaluate the potential effect of different stepwise strategies. ⋯ The OGTT is still the cornerstone for diabetes screening thus the FPG predictive value greatly decreases the 2hPG predictive value. ADA criteria undervalues the diabetes impact mainly on high-risk population.

To find whether the diagnosis-therapy approach of doctors to people with symptoms of anxiety-depression differs depending on whether the patient is a man or a woman. ⋯ The approach of primary care doctors to patients with symptoms of anxiety and depression differs with the sex of the patient. We prescribe more anxiolytic drugs, give more psychological support and think more of functional causes when our patient is a woman.
