[Resources and models for diabetic foot care in Catalonia (Spain): a descriptive study on areas of improvement].
To identify areas of improvement in diabetic foot care as regards the availability of materials and specialties in primary and secondary care. To determine the model of care for surgical centres and hospitals caring for diabetic foot problems and their relation to amputations. ⋯ The proportion of ABS with materials, specialists and/or specialist reference centres was low. The basic/insufficient model was the most common among surgical/hospital centres. Most amputations were performed in centres with excellent and intermediate model; nevertheless, a considerable percentage was performed in centres with basic/insufficient models.

[Are there any clinical and metabolic differences between immigrant and Spanish-born diabetic patients?].
To determine the clinical features and the metabolic control in immigrant diabetic patients in two Primary Care centres in La Rioja, Spain. ⋯ Immigrant diabetic patients are younger at diagnosis, have an unchanged baseline C-peptide secretion, higher HbA1c levels, higher WC with lower BMI compared to Spanish-born patients.

To determine the percentage of therapeutic noncompliance among type 2 diabetes patients on treatment with insulin. ⋯ A quarter of the diabetic patients did not comply with their insulin treatment.

[Objective KONTROL study: therapeutic inertia in hypertensive patients attended in primary care of Spain].
To determine the level of therapeutic inertia (TI), and the factors associated to the patient, doctor and the health organisation, in hypertensive patients treated in Primary Care (PC). ⋯ The results of the study indicate that there is TI in 7 out every 10 visits made by hypertensive patients in Primary care. There are significant differences as regards the clinical characteristics of the patients and of the doctors.

[Cardiovascular risk in Spanish smokers compared to non-smokers: RETRATOS study].
To evaluate the level of cardiovascular risk in smokers seenin Primary Care clinics. ⋯ Smoking is related to a high risk of fatal cardiovascular disease. Active promotion in Primary Care clinics of measures aimed at reducing the prevalence of the smoking habit would lead to a lowering of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
