Case ReportsVaccine-Induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia with Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation and Death following the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Vaccine.
Coronavirus is a novel human pathogen causing fulminant respiratory syndrome (COVID-19). Although COVID-19 is primarily a disease of the lungs with florid respiratory manifestations, there are increasing reports of cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, and thromboembolic complications. Developing an effective and reliable vaccine was emergently pursued to control the catastrophic spread of the global pandemic. ⋯ We attribute this fatal thrombotic condition to the vaccine due to the remarkable temporal relationship. The proposed mechanism of VITT is production of rogue antibodies against platelet factor-4 resulting in massive platelet aggregation. Healthcare providers should be aware of the possibility of such fatal complication, and the vaccine recipients should be warned about the symptoms of VITT.

International Survey of Mechanical Thrombectomy Stroke Systems of Care During COVID-19 Pandemic.
The COVID-19 pandemic has strained the healthcare systems across the world but its impact on acute stroke care is just being elucidated. We hypothesized a major global impact of COVID-19 not only on stroke volumes but also on various aspects of thrombectomy systems. ⋯ The corresponding author will consider requests for sharing survey data. The study was exempt from institutional review board approval as it did not involve patient level data.

Multicenter StudySystemic Inflammation Response Index and Systemic Immune-inflammation Index for Predicting the Prognosis of Patients with Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage.
Inflammatory response plays a pivotal role in the progress of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). As novel inflammatory markers, systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) and systemic immune-inflammation (SII) index could reflect clinical outcomes of patients with various diseases. The aim of this study was to ascertain whether initial SIRI and SII index were associated with prognosis of aSAH patients. ⋯ SIRI and SII index values are associated with clinical outcomes of patients with aSAH. Elevated SIRI and SII index could be independent predicting factors for a poor prognosis after aSAH.

Racial Disparities in Ischemic Stroke Among Patients with COVID-19 in the United States.
Cerebrovascular prevalence is high in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, whether racial disparities exist among this population have not been systematically explored. ⋯ Racial disparities in the prevalence of stroke among patients with COVID-19 exist, higher in Black population.

Inversion of T Waves on Admission is Associated with Mortality in Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage.
Cardiac dysfunction directly caused by spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a poorly understood phenomenon, and its impact on outcome is still uncertain. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between electrocardiographic (EKG) abnormalities and mortality in ICH. ⋯ Presence of TWI on admission is an independent and unmodifiable factor associated with mortality in ICH. Further research is needed to elucidate the pathophysiologic mechanisms underlying electrocardiographic changes after primary intracerebral hemorrhage.
