The diagnostic performance of magnetic resonance spectroscopy in differentiating high-from low-grade gliomas: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) is a powerful tool for preoperative grading of gliomas. We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the diagnostic performance of MRS in differentiating high-grade gliomas (HGGs) from low-grade gliomas (LGGs). ⋯ • MRS has moderate diagnostic performance in distinguishing HGGs from LGGs. • There is no significant difference in AUC between Cho/Cr and Cho/NAA ratios. • Cho/NAA ratio is superior to NAA/Cr ratio. • Cho/NAA ratio shows higher sensitivity and specificity than Cho/Cr and NAA/Cr ratios. • MRS should combine other advanced imaging techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy.

Magnetic resonance elastography for staging liver fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: a diagnostic accuracy systematic review and individual participant data pooled analysis.
We conducted an individual participant data (IPD) pooled analysis on diagnostic accuracy of MRE to detect fibrosis stage in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). ⋯ • MRE has high diagnostic accuracy for detection of fibrosis in NAFLD. • BMI does not significantly affect accuracy of MRE in NAFLD. • Inflammation had no significant influence on MRE performance in NAFLD for fibrosis.

To meta-analyze diagnostic accuracy, test yield and utility of coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) in coronary artery disease (CAD) by an intention-to-diagnose approach with inclusion of unevaluable results. ⋯ • This 3 × 2 Bayesian meta-analysis included unevaluable CCTAs with intention-to-diagnose. • CCTA is currently useful at intermediate CAD pre-test probabilities. • Unevaluable CCTAs should not, generally, be treated as if they are positive. • Positive CCTAs require verification by other methods to confirm CAD. • Negative CCTAs exclude CAD with high certainty.

Use of positive oral contrast agents in abdominopelvic computed tomography for blunt abdominal injury: meta-analysis and systematic review.
To determine whether positive oral contrast agents improve accuracy of abdominopelvic CT compared with no, neutral or negative oral contrast agent. ⋯ • There is no difference in the accuracy of CT with or without oral contrast agent. • There is no difference in the accuracy of CT with Gastrografin or water. • Omission of oral contrast, utilising neutral or negative oral contrast agent saves time, costs and decreases risk of aspiration.

Morphological measurements in computed tomography correlate with airflow obstruction in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: systematic review and meta-analysis.
To determine the correlation between CT measurements of emphysema or peripheral airways and airflow obstruction in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). ⋯ • Computed tomography is widely performed in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) • CT provides quantitative morphological methods to investigate airflow obstruction in COPD • CT measurements correlate significantly with the degree of airflow obstruction in COPD • Expiratory CT measurements correlate more strongly with airflow obstruction than inspiratory CT • Low-dose CT decreases the radiation dose for diagnosis and quantitative emphysema evaluation.
