Case ReportsConservative management in a patient with massive rotator cuff tear and rheumatoid arthritis.
Shoulder pain is one of the most common problems affecting people older than 60 years. Among the shoulder pathologies, the disorders of the periarticular soft tissue (e.g. rotator cuff) are considered to be the most common; moreover, these disorders are found in approximately 75% of patients with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis. The incidence of structural rotator cuff tendon pathology, including full-thickness rotator cuff tendon tears, increases with age. Recent researchers suggested that non-operative treatment of full-thickness rotator cuff tears could be successful in some patients; furthermore, in rheumatoid arthritis patients, there was a greater possibility of developing surgical complications compared with non-rheumatoid arthritis patients. ⋯ Pain education in combination with exercise therapy was effective for improving pain and function in a full-thickness tear of Supraspinatus and Infraspinatus tendon in a patient also suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.

Randomized Controlled TrialDiabetic peripheral neuropathy: Correlation between nerve cross-sectional area on ultrasound and clinical features.
To evaluate the correlations of the cross-sectional area (CSA) of peripheral nerves in diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) patients based on ultrasound (US) with clinical and demographic characteristics. ⋯ US is a sensitive diagnostic technique for detecting DPN; however, it does not indicate disease severity.

The reliability and validity of the Turkish version of fibromyalgia survey diagnostic criteria and symptom severity scale.
The fibromyalgia survey diagnostic criteria and severity scale (FSDC) is a self-reported version of 2010 preliminary diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS). FSDC not only facilitates to diagnose FMS, it measures pain (the Widespread Pain Index (WPI)/FSDC Section 3), the Symptom Severity (SS)/FSDC Sections 1 and 2, and provides a score, polysymptomatic distress (PSD)/FSDC Total score in patients with FMS. The purpose of our study is to evaluate the reliability and validity of Turkish version of FSDC in Turkish patients with FMS. ⋯ The Turkish experimental version of FSDC is a reliable and valid instrument in Turkish FMS patients. It is easily completed, simple to score providing valuable instrument to diagnose and follow FMS.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of effectiveness of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation and Kinesio Taping added to exercises in patients with myofascial pain syndrome.
Although there are several studies of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and exercise in myofascial pain syndrome, there are no studies comparing the effectiveness of Kinesio Taping (KT) and TENS in myofascial pain syndrome patients. ⋯ TENS and KT added exercises can decrease pain severity and increase pain threshold, function and cervical range of motion in myofascial pain syndrome patients. Addition of TENS or KT to the exercise therapy resulted in more significant improvement compared to exercise therapy alone with a more pronounced improvement in KT group compared to the TENS group in the early period. Because KT was found to be more effective in decreasing the pain and had the advantage of being used in every 3 days, it seems to be beneficial in acute painful periods in myofascial pain syndrome patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe effect of Mulligan mobilization on pain and life quality of patients with Rotator cuff syndrome: A randomized controlled trial.
Mulligan mobilization techniques cause pain and affect the function in patients with Rotator cuff syndrome. ⋯ Mulligan mobilization was more effective than general treatment methods for pain as well as normal joint motion, DASH scoring and some parameters of SF-36 compared with general treatment methods.
