Herpes Simplex Virus Encephalitis after Recovery from Coronavirus Disease 2019: A Rare Case Report.
An 85-year-old woman was diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The patient was treated with dexamethasone, and the infection was cured. ⋯ The patient was treated with antiviral drugs and recovered from the HSV encephalitis. This case suggests that, in patients with COVID-19 and disorders of consciousness, the possibility of HSV encephalitis should be considered along with COVID-19 encephalitis.

We herein report a case of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) that occurred following coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination and its subsequent relapse after COVID-19 infection. A 34-year-old woman developed cortical encephalitis in the right temporoparietal lobe one week after receiving the mRNA-1273 vaccine. The cerebrospinal fluid was positive for anti-MOG antibody. ⋯ Six months later, she experienced a relapse of transverse myelitis following COVID-19 infection. Despite treatment with plasma exchange, the patient remained paralyzed in both lower limbs. We herein review the relationship between MOGAD and COVID-19 vaccination/infection.

Large Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor of the Esophagus: A Case Report and Literature Review.
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare tumor composed of myofibroblasts with inflammatory blood cell infiltration. It commonly occurs in the lungs and rarely in the esophagus. We herein report a valuable case of IMT originating in the esophagus. ⋯ Surgical resection was performed to confirm the pathological diagnosis and improve the symptoms. The postoperative diagnosis was IMT composed of multiple nodules. There was no recurrence or metastasis within one year after surgery.

The anti-GQ1b IgG antibody is often accompanied by other anti-ganglioside antibodies, which induces various neurological symptoms. We herein report a patient with anti-ganglioside antibodies, including anti-GQ1b IgG and anti-GT1a IgG antibodies, showing bilateral ophthalmoplegia, facial nerve palsies, dysarthria, dysphagia, dysesthesia in both hands, and enhancement of the bilateral oculomotor, abducens, and facial nerves on gadolinium (Gd)-enhanced T1-weighted brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). ⋯ High-dose methylprednisolone therapy subsequently improved the facial nerve palsies and Gd enhancement of the cranial nerves. This is the first case with anti-ganglioside antibodies presenting with multiple cranial nerve palsies that was followed to track the changes in the Gd enhancement of cranial nerves on MRI.
