Soothing music can increase oxytocin levels during bed rest after open-heart surgery: a randomised control trial.
To evaluate the effect of bed rest with music on relaxation for patients who have undergone heart surgery on postoperative day one. ⋯ Music intervention should be offered as an integral part of the multimodal regime administered to the patients that have undergone cardiovascular surgery. It is a supportive source that increases relaxation.

Efficacy of progressive muscle relaxation training in reducing anxiety in patients with acute schizophrenia.
The objective of this study was to examine the efficacy of progressive muscle relaxation training on anxiety in patients with acute schizophrenia. ⋯ Progressive muscle relaxation training is potentially an effective nursing intervention in the reduction of anxiety in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia, depending on the quality of their mental status at the time of intervention. Progressive muscle relaxation training is a useful intervention as it is proven to reduce anxiety levels across a spectrum of psychiatric disorders.

An educational intervention to improve women's ability to cope with childbirth.
To test the effectiveness of an efficacy-enhancing educational intervention to promote women's self-efficacy for childbirth and coping ability in reducing anxiety and pain during labour. ⋯ Relief of pain and anxiety is an important issue for both women and childbirth health professionals. The efficacy-enhancing educational intervention should be further developed and integrated into childbirth educational interventions for promoting women's coping ability during childbirth.

Turkish children loved distraction: using kaleidoscope to reduce perceived pain during venipuncture.
To assess the effect of distraction (looking through kaleidoscopes) to reduce perceived pain, during venipuncture in healthy school-age children. ⋯ Distraction with kaleidoscope is a method, which the nurse will be able to use for venipuncture to obtain optimal pain control. In addition, it is important for a nurse to know some features about the children for a pain free and positive experience.
