To determine the presence of a consistent osseous corridor through S1 and S2 and fluoroscopic landmarks thereof, which could be used for safe trans ilio-sacroiliac screw fixation of posterior pelvic ring disorders. ⋯ Two-thirds of males and females have a complete osseous corridor to pass a trans-sacroiliac S1 screw of 8 mm diameter. The S2 corridor was present in all males but only in 87 % of females. Preoperative review of the axial CT slices at the midpoint of the S1 or S2 vertebral body allows the presence of a trans-sacroiliac osseous corridor to be determined by assessing the passage at the narrowest point of the corridor at the junction of the sacral ala to the vertebral body.

To compare outcomes between transdiscal and conventional pedicle fixation for high-grade L5-S1 spondylolisthesis. ⋯ L5-S1 transdiscal screw fixation provided better functional and radiographic outcomes at medium-term than conventional pedicle fixation for high-grade spondylolisthesis, although transdiscal sacral screws are difficult to place in correct position.

To investigate the presence of head control deficits and its course of recovery after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) surgery in cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) patients. ⋯ Adequate C2-C7 cervical lordosis was maintained in the current study with improvement of slow head motion control and ROM at 6-month. However, improvement in head position sense was not maintained and neck strength showed continuous declination overtime. Assessment and monitoring of head control deficits should be routinely considered in CSM patients.

Coccygectomy may be indicated for the treatment of debilitating coccygodynia unresponsive to non-operative treatment. Perineal contamination and postoperative wound infection following coccygectomy remains a major concern. We present a rare post-coccygectomy complication of rectal-cutaneous fistula. To our knowledge no such case has been previously described. ⋯ Postoperative infection following coccygectomy remains a major concern. A discharging sinus at the surgical site may suggest the presence of a rectal-cutaneous fistula, which requires a combined approach of spinal and colorectal surgeons. Methylene blue injection to the sinus tract may facilitate the diagnosis of a rectal-cutaneous fistula.

To evaluate the effect of spectral CT for metal artifact reduction in patients with pedicle screw. ⋯ Virtual monochromatic images at high-energy levels have a well-concordant effect of removing metal artifacts, and 120 keV monochromatic images provided an accurate CT number and good subjective score.
