Back pains are the most frequent musculoskeletal disorders among dentists, exposed to many work-related risk factors. We aimed to assess the prevalence and intensity of back pains as well as the impact of some work behaviors among a large sample of dentists. ⋯ Prevalence and intensity of back pain are important among dentists and increase greatly over working life. Preventive methods such as ergonomics exist and awareness should be raised among dentists and dental student. These slides can be retrieved under Electronic Supplementary Material.

Advancing spinal fellowship training: an international multi-centre educational perspective.
The purpose of this article is to review the importance of contemporary spine surgery fellowships and educational strategies to assist with fellowship design and delivery. ⋯ Spinal fellowships may benefit from certain contemporary strategies that assist design and delivery of training in a safe environment. Complication rates of different discectomy techniques for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation: a network meta-analysis.
The aim of this network meta-analysis (NMA) was to compare the complication rates of discectomy/microdiscectomy, percutaneous laser disc decompression (PLDD), percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD), microendoscopic discectomy (MED), and tubular discectomy for symptomatic lumbar disc herniation (LDH). ⋯ The results of this NMA suggest that discectomy/microdiscectomy and PELD are the safest procedures for LDH with minimal intraoperative and post-operative complications, respectively. PELD, MED, and PLDD are the safest procedures for LDH in terms of minimal rates for complications necessitating conservative, pharmacological, and surgical treatment, respectively.
