To determine the reliability and validity of self-reported questionnaires to measure pain and disability in adults with grades I-IV neck pain and its associated disorders (NAD). ⋯ The evidence supporting the validity and reliability of instruments used to measure pain and disability is preliminary. Further validity studies are needed to confirm the clinical utility of self-reported questionnaires to assess pain and disability in patients with NAD. We report a pure distraction injury of the upper thoracic spine and uncontrolled hyperthermia without an infectious cause. Quad fever appears in the first several weeks to months after a cervical or upper thoracic SCI and is characterized by an extreme elevation in body core temperature beyond 40 °C without an infectious cause. Discriminating between infectious and noninfectious causes is important, and a thorough clinical assessment is required. ⋯ Based on the Grand Round case and relevant literature, we discuss the case of pure distraction injury of T1-2 with quad fever. Spinal surgeons should be knowledgeable regarding quad fever as well as the differential diagnoses and treatment strategies.

A pilot randomized controlled trial of 6-week combined exercise program on fasting insulin and fitness levels in individuals with spinal cord injury.
The aim of this randomized controlled trial study was to investigate the effect of combined exercise program on the fasting insulin and fitness levels of people with spinal cord injury (SCI). ⋯ A combined exercise program is effective in decreasing fasting insulin and HOMA-IR levels while improving fitness in those with SCI. A multicenter cross-sectional study. ⋯ Trunk muscle mass was significantly associated with the ODI, VAS score, SVA, and EQ5D score. A longitudinal cohort study. ⋯ Longitudinal changes in DSB following successful multi-level spinal realignment indicate reduced forces on the lower lumbar spine along with altered lower limb dynamics matching that of controls.
