The aim of the study was to report the long-term outcomes and analyze the potential prognostic factors that may contribute to symptomatic patients with aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) of the spine undergoing surgical treatments. ⋯ Secondary ABC status may be associated with worse prognosis, and en bloc resection remains the treatment of choice for ABCs with neurologic deficits or spinal instability of the spine, which is correlated with better prognosis for local tumor control. These slides can be retrieved under Electronic Supplementary Material.

In 2013, we reported a case of combined anterior and posterior reconstruction after three-level en bloc vertebral body replacement and replacement of the aorta for chondrosarcoma of the thoracic spine. Eight years after, we observed an implant failure and now report on revision strategy and 2-year follow-up (f/u) after revision. ⋯ Both procedures offer a good primary stabilization with excellent pain reduction and good return to life. Limited information on long-term survivors is known. Therefore, the theoretical advantage of a biological solution needs to be checked in the long-term f/u for consistency.

Primary vascular bone tumors in the spine: a challenge for pathologists and spine oncology surgeons.
Primary vascular bone tumors of the spine represent a challenge for oncology surgeons, due to the need of planning a surgical strategy appropriate to the tumor behavior. But these tumors represent a challenge also for pathologists, as immunohistochemical and molecular analyses have recently refined the terminology. ⋯ Surgeons must be aware of the evolution of terminology to decide the most appropriate treatment options. These slides can be retrieved from Electronic Supplementary Material.

Previous studies have indicated that decreased fractional anisotropy (FA) values on diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) are well correlated with the symptoms of nerve root compression. The aim of our study is to determine primary radiological parameters associated with decreased FA values in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis involving single L5 nerve root. ⋯ DSCSA and SR were primary contributors to decreased FA values in LSS patients involving single L5 nerve root, indicating that central canal decompression and segmental stability should be the first considerations in preoperative planning of these patients. These slides can be retrieved under Electronic Supplementary Material.

Postoperative standing radiographs are usually performed before hospital discharge after AIS fusion. However, patients are often still painful and have not recovered yet their physiological balance. The aim of this study was therefore to evaluate the relevance of such early radiographs and more specifically investigate whether postoperative alignment could be analyzed. ⋯ There is no need for additional immediate postoperative radiographs in AIS, if an intraoperative radiograph has already been taken. This finding could help reducing radiation exposure in immature patients and should be further studied in other etiologies. These slides can be retrieved under Electronic Supplementary Material.
