To report the clinical characteristics and surgical outcomes of scoliosis in patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) from Mainland China. ⋯ SMA patients in China always present severe scoliosis at late adolescence, accompanied with high proportion of low weight and pulmonary dysfunction. PSF is effective for the correction of scoliosis and pelvic obliquity and the improvement of thoracic morphology. Sitting ability and respiratory symptoms were improved postoperatively.

Multicenter Study Observational Study
Prospective observational study investigating the predictive validity of the STarT Back tool and the clinical effectiveness of stratified care in an emergency department setting.
To determine the predictive validity of the STarT Back tool (SBT) undertaken at baseline and 6 weeks to classify Emergency Department (ED) patients with LBP into groups at low, medium or high risk of persistent disability at 3 months. A secondary aim was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of pragmatic risk-matched treatment in an ED cohort at 3 months. ⋯ Disability at baseline and SBT administered at 6 weeks more accurately predicted disability at 3 months than SBT at baseline in an ED population.

To identify the clinical features correlating with the presence and severity of scoliosis in girls with Rett syndrome (RTT). ⋯ Scoliosis is a relevant problem in RTT. It should be carefully monitored along the life span, especially in conjunction with (loco-)motor impairment in these patients.

The completeness of the intervertebral disc proteome is fundamental to the integrity and functionality of the intervertebral disc. ⋯ Our studies produced point-reference datasets of normal rats, physiological degeneration rats, and needle puncture rat models, which is beneficial to subsequent pathological studies. There is differential expression of protein expression in degenerative discs with aging and acupuncture, which may be used as a potential discriminating index for different intervertebral degenerations.
