The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of diffusion tensor tractography (DTT) of spinal cord on surgical planning and postoperative neurological outcomes in patients with spinal intramedullary tumors. ⋯ Diffusion tensor imaging and tractography may be beneficial regarding the selection of patients suitable for surgery and in the subsequent surgical planning.

Surgical site infection prophylaxis with intra-wound vancomycin powder for uninstrumented spine surgeries: a meta-analysis.
It is unclear if intra-wound vancomycin powder significantly reduces the infection rate for uninstrumented spine surgery. The purpose of this study is to compare the rate of surgical site infection (SSI) in uninstrumented spine surgery that used vancomycin powder against controls. ⋯ The current study was unable to conclude that vancomycin decreased the rate of surgical site infections. Vancomycin use may be useful in populations that have a high rate of infection. Limitations in this study include the small number of studies that report on the use of vancomycin on uninstrumented spine surgery.

Tuberculosis is one of the oldest diseases in human history, and spinal tuberculosis (STB) is the most common form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. A large number of research has been conducted in this field. However, there has been no bibliometric analysis performed in recent years in STB. The aim of this study was to analyze trends and hotspots in research on STB. ⋯ research on STB has achieved great progress, with an increasing number of publications since 2010. Surgical treatment and debridement are current research hots pots, and diagnosis, drug resistance, and kyphosis are likely research frontiers. Cooperation between countries and authors needs to be further strengthened.

To identify clinical predictors and build prediction models for 1-year patient-reported outcomes measures (PROMs) after lumbar decompressive surgery for disc herniation or spinal stenosis. ⋯ Important PROM predictors are baseline PROMs, specific co-morbidities, work status, condition duration, previous lumbar operation, female, and smoking status. The ODI model predicted the likelihood of achieving a satisfactory state of both disability and pain.

Predictive value of texture analysis on lumbar MRI in patients with chronic low back pain.
The aim of this study was to determine whether MRI texture analysis could predict the prognosis of patients with non-specific chronic low back pain. ⋯ The texture analysis of lumbar MRI could help identify patients who are more likely to improve their non-specific chronic low back pain through rehabilitation programs, allowing a personalized therapeutic plan to be established.
