Randomized Controlled TrialTreating low back pain resulted from lumbar degenerative instability using Chinese Tuina combined with core stability exercises: A randomized controlled trial.
The therapeutic effect of Tuina combined with core stability exercises on low back pain resulted from lumbar degenerative instability is unclear. This article aims to evaluate whether core stability exercises can improve the effect of Tuina in this regard. ⋯ Chinese Tuina combined with core stability exercises has better effect than Tuina alone in treating low back pain resulted from low-grade lumbar degenerative instability.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe mediating role of pain acceptance during mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for headache.
This study aimed to determine if mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) engenders improvement in headache outcomes via the mechanisms specified by theory: (1) change in psychological process, (i.e., pain acceptance); and concurrently (2) change in cognitive content, (i.e., pain catastrophizing; headache management self-efficacy). ⋯ Pain acceptance, and specifically engagement in valued activities despite pain, may be a key mechanism underlying improvement in pain outcome during a MBCT for headache pain intervention. The theorized mediating role of cognitive content factors was not supported in this preliminary study. A large, definitive trial is warranted to replicate and extend the findings in order to streamline and optimize MBCT for headache.

Randomized Controlled TrialTraditional Chinese Medicine treatment as maintenance therapy in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer: A randomized controlled trial.
Maintenance therapy for patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is an increasingly hot topic in the field of clinical NSCLC research. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment as maintenance therapy on time to progression (TTP), quality of life (QOL), overall survival (OS) and 1-year survival rate in patients with advanced NSCLC. ⋯ TCM maintenance treatment had similar effects on TTP and OS compared with maintenance chemotherapy, but it improved patients' QOL and had higher 1-year survival rate. TCM Maintenance treatment is a promising option for advanced NSCLC patients without progression following first-line chemotherapy.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe effect of moxibustion on alleviating menstrual pain in a population of young nursing students: A prospective randomized cross-over pilot study.
To investigate the effect of moxibustion on alleviating menstrual pain and relieving the symptoms of dysmenorrhea in a cohort of young nursing students in China. ⋯ The results suggested that moxibustion therapy with a heating box was effective for alleviating menstrual pain and symptoms of young female university students in China. The effect of moxibustion might not only due to heat stimulation, but also from the burning of moxa stick. Boxing moxibustion could be recommended as a nonpharmacological pain relief intervention for university students for its cost effectiveness, practical design and relative safety, and it is easy for the university students themselves to self-administer at home.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of music therapy on pain, anxiety, and vital signs in patients after thoracic surgery.
To examine the effectiveness of music listening on pain, anxiety, and vital signs among patients after thoracic surgery in China. ⋯ The findings provide further evidence to support the practice of music therapy to reduce postoperative pain and anxiety, and lower systolic blood pressure and heart rate in patients after thoracic surgery in China.
