To identify the knowledge of caregivers of pediatric intensive care units (PICUs) on the French law related to patients' rights and end of life, their views on withholding/withdrawing life-sustaining treatment (WWLST) decisions, and their feelings about how these decisions were made and implemented. ⋯ This study is the first to show that caregivers of French PICUs have good knowledge of the French law concerning the end of life. Telephone counseling is a daily occurrence in the pediatric emergency department (ED). It is difficult and has no legal framework. In 2010, we created a new protocol aimed at improving the telephone counseling given by the admission nurse at our pediatric emergency department: an index card is created for every call, color-coded according to severity with a list of clinical items, allowing for simple and reproducible advice. ⋯ These innovative color-coded cards make it possible to dispense reliable and harmonized advice. They ease the process of an otherwise difficult exercise.

We describe the case of a 2-month-old child with complex tracheal hypoplasia with bilateral bronchial hypoplasia and left pulmonary hypoplasia. Tracheal hypoplasia is complex when it is associated with critical stenosis, cricoid stenosis, bronchial hypoplasia, tracheal bronchus, or esophageal atresia with severe tracheomalacia. Slide tracheoplasty is the gold standard treatment for the complex tracheal hypoplasia.

A total of 52.5% of therapeutic practice were concordant with guidelines and 57.5% in case of first bronchiolitis. 50% of infants with a hospitalization criteria according to the guidelines, have not been, which probably shows the interest of new guidelines, with highlighting of hospitalization criteria.

Research is limited on suicide attempts in children under 13 years of age. The objective of this study was to provide an in-depth description of this population. ⋯ The sex ratio in 6- to 12-year-olds attempting suicide is higher than the sex ratio in adolescents attempting suicides. Insecure attachment was found in all families in this sample. This population is particularly at risk knowing that in adulthood, the risk of death by suicide is higher when there is a background of attempted suicide by violent methods. These children should always be hospitalized for a psychological and socioenvironmental evaluation.
