Background and Objectives: Due to the specific working conditions dental professionals represent a group of high risk of infection and COVID-19 pandemic in many ways have influenced their working environment. The aim of this study was to evaluate effects of COVID-19 pandemic on working conditions of dentists in Poland and Turkey. Materials and Methods: The study was an anonymous online questionnaire conducted among thedentists in two countries: Poland and Turkey. ⋯ Conclusions: COVID-19 pandemic has influenced working conditions of dentists. Many dentists got infected during the pandemic, dental procedures' time has increased, and protective equipment usage has become higher. Further studies analyzing the working conditions of dentists during COVID-19 pandemic should be conducted for better planning of future decisions taken by governments and authorities.

Background and Objectives: Orthodontic tooth movement is associated with inflammatory responses. The aim of this study was to identify gingival microcirculation using laser Doppler flowmetry in patients with orthodontic treatment. Materials and Methods: A longitudinal pilot study was performed. ⋯ Before and during the treatment, the oral hygiene index, gingival index, probing depth, level of epithelial attachment, and gingival microcirculation were evaluated with laser Doppler flowmetry (integrated parameters: 1. integrated primary basal flow (IPBF), 2. integrated total secondary real flow (ITSRF), and 3. difference between integration (DBI)) in all of the participants). Results: (a) An increase in gingival blood flow was identified at all time intervals with different arches during orthodontic treatment. (b) The IPBF and ITSRF (with treatment) identified after 20 min (treatment initial stage) were compared with the different time intervals, and we observed an increase in gingival perfusion at the 24th, 48th, and 72nd hours in some arches. (c) In the DBI, we found statistically significant differences (p < 0.005) in the Nitinol group of 0.016 inches among all the time intervals (24 h, 48 h, and 72 h) within the 30-day interval, observing a flow increase three times greater than the basal flow after 30 days. Conclusions: Healthcare professionals must identify the inflammatory processes in treatment to observe and discontinue use of harmful methods in clinical practice.

Effect of Vitamin D Supplementation on Muscle Status in Old Patients Recovering from COVID-19 Infection.
Background and Objectives: Vitamin D, in addition to its effect on mineral homeostasis, plays a key role in muscle metabolism. Vitamin D supplementation is involved in muscle recovery after damage as a consequence of either pathology or after high-intensity exercise. In this context, the aim of this study was to analyze the effect of vitamin D on muscle fitness in elderly patients in the recovery phase after SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infection. ⋯ This change suggests a protective role of vitamin D against muscle catabolism compared to placebo. In terms of physical test results, we observed only slight non-significant improvements, although patients reported feeling better. Conclusions: Vitamin D supplementation produces decreases in indicators of muscle damage, which may ultimately contribute to improving the health status and quality of life of patients who have suffered from COVID-19, during the recovery process.

Background and Objectives: It is well known that among all cancers, cancers of the head and neck (HNC) have a major impact on patients' quality of life. Disfigurement, anxiety and disabling physical and psychological symptoms affect people with HNC to such an extent that the suicide rate in this category of patients is exceeded only by that of patients with pancreatic cancer. The aim of this review was to summarize the published literature describing the severity of body image and quality of life impairment in patients with HNC over time, and to examine the psychosocial and functional associations and interventions implemented to improve body image and quality of life. ⋯ Of 620 records, only 9 articles met the eligibility criteria. Results: Numerous studies have been conducted to analyze various psychological variables, but there is still a lack of standardization in the assessment of body image perception (BI) and quality of life, resulting in small-scale testing of interventions with poor results. Conclusions: Expected longitudinal studies describing the flow of body image problems and the mediation and balance factors associated with body image will allow researchers to design methods aimed at limiting body image disorders and thus improving quality of life of patients with head and neck cancer.

The need to fight a highly aggressive virus such as SARS-CoV-2 has compelled governments to put in place measures, which, in the name of health protection, have constrained many freedoms we all enjoy, including freedom of movement, both nationally and within the European Union. In order to encourage and facilitate the return to free movement, the European Parliament has launched a "COVID-19 digital certificate". ⋯ The authors, while highlighting some critical aspects, argue that the COVID digital certificate in its current approved version can effectively help prevent the spread of the infection and promote free movement, while upholding the right to health as much as possible. However, they also stress the need for a thorough information campaign to illustrate the advantages and limitations of this document in order to avoid creating a false sense of security in the public opinion, who may wrongly assume that the emergency has been overcome for good.
