Background and Objectives: With more and more cases emerging outside central and west African countries, where the disease is endemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) has recently declared human monkeypox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. Typical symptoms of the disease include fever, myalgia, and lymphadenopathy followed by a rash, but other symptoms may occur. Immunocompromised patients, including patients with uncontrolled Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection, may be at risk for more severe courses. ⋯ The skin lesions were completely dried out 18 days after the first symptoms. Conclusions: Painful pharyngitis and tonsillitis can be rare early symptoms of monkeypox, which is highly relevant in everyday clinical practice. Particularly in patients with risk factors for monkeypox infection, further clinical and microbiologic testing for monkeypox should be performed if there is a clinical presentation with pharyngitis and tonsillitis.

In the field of advanced melanoma, there is an urgent need to investigate novel approaches targeting specific components of the cancer-immunity cycle beyond immune checkpoint inhibitors. The authors reviewed the basic understanding of the role of neutrophils in cancer biology, and the latest clinical evidence supporting the correlation between cancer-associated neutrophils and the prognosis and response to the immunotherapy of advanced melanoma. Finally, they propose that granulocyte and monocyte apheresis, an emerging non-pharmacological treatment in current dermatology, could become an investigative treatment targeting melanoma-associated neutrophils which could be potentially used in combination with the usual immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Young Children with a Bucket-Handle Tear to the Discoid Lateral Meniscus Successfully Treated Using Arthroscopic Saucerization and Repair: Two Case Reports.
Observations of a symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus in young children are infrequent. The objective of this report was to demonstrate the use of arthroscopic saucerization and repair for treating a bucket-handle tear of a lateral discoid meniscus in two young children. Two young children (a 28-month-old girl and a 5-year-old boy) presented with a bucket-handle tear of the complete type lateral discoid meniscus. ⋯ Both patients and their parents felt satisfied with the treatment at the 2- and 3-year follow-ups, respectively. Our results demonstrated that arthroscopic saucerization and repair seems to be an effective treatment for bucket-handle tears of the lateral discoid meniscus in young children-even those younger than 3 years old. We reported the youngest case (a 28-month-old girl) in comparison with the findings from a literature review.

A Rare Case of Left Ventricular Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumour-Case Report and Review of the Literature.
Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour (MPNST) is an aggressive and uncommon cancer developing in the peripheral nerve sheath. Primary cardiac MPNST is an extremely rare finding, with no specific imaging and clinical characteristics. ⋯ The preferred course of treatment for this pathology is by full surgical resection of the tumour, with negative (clear) margins, followed by adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy. We present the case of a 42-year-old woman with no significant cardiovascular symptoms who was incidentally diagnosed during routine transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) with a cardiac mass located in the left ventricle.

Background: Cisplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy is a common complication of cisplatin therapy, which develops in most patients with lung cancer. There are no effective preventive measures and once it occurs there is no effective therapy, except symptomatic. In this study, we aimed to assess the effect of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) therapy on the pain intensity and the quality of life of patients with cisplatin-induced neuropathy. ⋯ The VAS and DN4 scores significantly decreased after TENS therapy, in comparison to its values after cisplatin therapy (p < 0.001). After TENS therapy, patients had significantly higher values in most of the domains of EORTC QLQ-C30 and FACT- L, in comparison with the values after cisplatin therapy (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The application of TENS therapy has a positive effect on reducing neuropathic pain and increasing the quality of life for patients with lung cancer and cisplatin-induced neuropathy.
