Observational Study
Prevalence and Self-Medication for Acne among Students of Health-Related Science Colleges at King Saud University in Riyadh Region Saudi Arabia.
Background and Objectives: In Saudi Arabia, Acne vulgaris is a very predominant ailment among adolescents, especially female university students, and self-medication has become a trend to manage this condition. To determine the prevalence of Acne vulgaris among health care students and to access the scenario of its self-medication in light of students' knowledge, attitude, and practice towards it. Materials and Methods: This was an observational study conducted at King Saud University, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from January 2022 to March 2022. ⋯ Almost 60% of medical students had proper knowledge of medication for acne. Conclusion: Acne vulgaris is a highly prevalent condition among university students of Saudi Arabia and use of self-medication among acne sufferers is high. Education programs should be made to raise awareness about acne and its treatment.

Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is considered as a severe adverse side effect of specific drugs such as anti-resorptive and anti-angiogenic medications. Evidence suggests that MRONJ is linked to invasive dental procedures, mainly dentoalveolar surgery. Several preventive strategies to minimize the risk of developing MRONJ have been investigated. ⋯ A similar pattern was observed in the HADOX group treated with zoledronic acid 8% ZA treatment (p = 0.001). Conclusions: HADOX did not inhibit any bone repair and reduced early inflammatory response. Hence, HADOX could promote bone healing in patients undergoing antiresorptive drug therapy.

Background and Objectives: Age-related declines in taste function are common. Taste acuity can be affected by nutritional status and sleep quality. This research aims to examine the effect of nutritional status and sleep quality on gustatory function in community-dwelling older adults. ⋯ When the gustatory functions were evaluated according to BMI classification, it was determined that underweight participants had a higher sour taste score than the obese ones. Multiple regression analysis revealed that age, MNA score, PSQI score, and gender accounted for a total of 20.4% of the variance in the sweet taste score. Conclusions: Determining the relationship between taste function, nutritional status, and sleep quality in older adults is important in terms of developing new strategies for older adults who have these problems.

Background and Objectives: Natural products are necessary sources for drug discovery and have contributed to cancer chemotherapy over the past few decades. Furthermore, substances derived from plants have fewer side effects. Chrysophanol is an anthraquinone derivative that is isolated from rhubarb. ⋯ Therefore, we confirmed that chrysophanol induces apoptosis and autophagy at the same time, and the induced autophagy plays a role in interfering with apoptosis processes. Conclusions: Therefore, the potential of chrysophanol as an excellent anticancer agent in OSCC was confirmed via this study. Furthermore, the combined treatment of drugs that can inhibit chrysophanol-induced autophagy is expected to have a tremendous synergistic effect in overcoming oral cancer.

Background and Objectives: Centipeda minima (L.) is a well-known and traditional pharmaceutical that has been utilized to treat different conditions controlling rhinitis, soothe pain, and decrease swelling. We assessed the impacts of Centipeda minima (L.) extricates (CMTs) on the osteogenic differentiation of cell spheroids made of human-bone-marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells. Materials and Methods: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in spheroid 3D culture were generated and propagated in the presence of CMTs ranging from 0 to 1 μg/mL. ⋯ The addition of CMT significantly increased RUNX2 expression in the 0.01 μg/mL group and COL1A1 in the 0.001 and 0.01 μg/mL groups. Normalization of protein expression showed that the addition of CMTs significantly increased type I collagen expression in the 0.001, 0.01, and 1 μg/mL groups. Conclusions: In conclusion, CMTs influence the osteogenic differentiation of bone-marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells and the use of CMTs may positively influence the osteogenic differentiation of cell spheroids.
