HISTOPATHOLOGIC FINDINGS IN WOMEN UNDERGOING HYSTEROSCOPIC RESECTION OF ENDOMETRIAL POLYPS AND UTERINE MYOMAS.
The aim of our study was to determine the prevalence of endometrial premalignant and malignant lesions in women undergoing hysteroscopy and to identify anthropologic factors related to the presence of malignancy. Data on 3470 women with submucosal myomas or endometrial polyps suspected on ultrasound were retrospectively analyzed. Hysteroscopy was performed in all these women in order to make a more precise diagnosis. ⋯ The prevalence rate of malignancy in women having undergone hysteroscopy for polyps and myoma found by ultrasound was 1.93%. Postmenopausal status and older age were associated with an increased risk of malignancies, but premalignant changes and malignancies were also found in young and premenopausal women. Therefore, diagnostic hysteroscopy can be recommended in women of all age groups.

A DETAILED CBCT STUDY OF 'CORONOID FORAMINA' AND ACCESSORY FORAMINA OF THE MANDIBLE: A UNIQUE ANATOMIC VARIATION.
The aim of the study was to evaluate accessory foramina (AF) located on the medial aspect and to present a unique finding of 'coronoid foramina' (CF) along with AF on the mandible. The cone beam computed tomography images of the mandible in 979 patients were retrospectively evaluated for the presence of CF and AF. AF was found in 39 (3.98%) patients. ⋯ CF was confirmed in 20 (2.04%) patients. Mandibular AF is important for surgical procedures in the posterior region of the mandible and for mandibular nerve anesthesia. This study including CF will be useful for further studies due to the lack of literature on the issue.

Case ReportsTORSADES DE POINTES IN ELDERLY PATIENT WITH PAROXYSMAL ATRIAL FIBRILLATION TREATED BY SHORT-TERM PARENTERAL AMIODARONE THERAPY.
One of the drugs that are widely used in the treatment of atrial fibrillation is amiodarone. Despite considerable prolongation of the corrected QT interval and a substantial degree of bradycardia, amiodarone exhibits a remarkably low frequency of pro-arrhythmic events and <1.0% incidence of torsades de pointes, mostly after long-term usage. We present a case of an 80-year-old female with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation accompanied by acute heart failure treated by short-term parenteral amiodarone therapy and development of torsades de pointes.

DO ORTHOPTIC EXERCISES HAVE ANY INFLUENCE ON CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS DIAGNOSED WITH CONVERGENCE INSUFFICIENCY AND ATTENTION DEFICIT/HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER?
The aim was to determine whether improvement of near point of convergence (NPC) and binocular vision after orthoptic exercises had any impact on children and adolescents diagnosed with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and convergence insufficiency (CI). In this clinical trial, 50 children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 years diagnosed with ADHD and CI received orthoptic therapy that included home-based exercises (pencil push-ups and stereograms) and office-based therapy on synoptophore. Binocular vision and NPC were measured before, during and after therapy. ⋯ Our results showed that NPC enhancement improved stereovision in patients with ADHD. Since progress of binocular function has positive effect on near work and diminishes visual symptoms in children and adolescents with ADHD and CI, it might be reasonable to suppose that orthoptic therapy helps these children improve concentration as well. Further studies are needed to determine whether it might have positive impact on attention.

Case ReportsSUBCONJUNCTIVAL FRAGMENTATION OF A PREVIOUSLY EFFICIENT XEN GEL STENT IMPLANTATION AND SUCCESSFUL BLEB FORMATION: A CASE REPORT.
The XEN gel stent is one of the available minimally invasive glaucoma surgery devices, a new generation implant, which is designed to reduce intraocular pressure in patients with primary open angle glaucoma if past medical treatments have failed. This report presents a case of subconjunctival fragmentation of the XEN gel stent after a three-month follow-up of successful XEN gel implantation. A 70-year-old male patient was treated for primary open angle glaucoma. ⋯ Three months after the surgery, at a regular follow-up visit, three fragments of the subconjunctival part of the XEN gel implant were found in his left eye. Neither serious complications nor intraocular pressure increase were detected. A new potential complication of the XEN gel implant is described.
