Comparative StudyEVALUATION OF INNOVATIVE DIGITALLY CONTROLLED ER:YAG LASER IN SURGICAL TREATMENT OF ORAL LEUKOPLAKIA - A PRELIMINARY STUDY.
The use of lasers for treatment of oral leukoplakia has gained a lot of interest in the past years, however, data on the use of Er:YAG laser are scarce. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of Er:YAG laser and 1% topical isotretinoin in the treatment of 27 oral leukoplakia patients. Er:YAG laser (LightWalker AT, Fotona, Slovenia) was used in 27 patients with 27 leukoplakia lesions. ⋯ At follow-up after six months and one year, there was no recurrence of lesions. Er:YAG laser is a successful treatment for oral leukoplakia. Topical isotretionin treatment is unsuccessful in patients with oral leukoplakia.

FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO CHRONIC URTICARIA/ANGIOEDEMA AND NUMMULAR ECZEMA RESOLUTION - WHICH FINDINGS ARE CRUCIAL?
When working with dermatology patients, the question sometimes arises which diagnostic tests and tools should be used for workup, particularly in cases of chronic urticaria (CU) and discoid nummular eczema, where the treatment of associated systemic diseases and infections may be crucial for patient outcome. The aim was to investigate retrospectively the influence of associated diseases on skin disease outcomes based on medical records of CU and nummular eczema patients in comparison to controls. ⋯ Meaningful regression of both dermatoses was recorded after treatment of associated diseases, with significant benefit from H. pylori treatment. This indicated that the diagnosis of associated infections (particularly H. pylori and urogenital infections), confirmed allergies, endocrine disorders (particularly of thyroid gland in CU patients) and serum malignancy markers could play a crucial role, as their treatment may improve disease outcomes.

Comparative StudyRISK FACTOR DISTRIBUTION AND LONG-TERM OUTCOMES IN YOUNG PATIENTS UNDERGOING PERCUTANEOUS CORONARY INTERVENTION IN MACEDONIA.
The aim was to assess coronary artery disease (CAD) risk factor distribution and long-term outcomes in young patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in Macedonia. A total of 12,361 PCI patients (from March 2011 to December 2017) were included in the study. Group 1 included 309 young patients aged ≤40 as the main study group, comparing them to 12,052 older PCI patients (group 2) during the study period. ⋯ In conclusion, positive family history for CAD, obesity and smoking were the most common risk factors in the young PCI population. Young PCI patients usually had single vessel CAD with STEMI being more frequent as the cause for primary PCI. Long-term annual survival exceeded 99% in these patients with excellent prognosis after PCI.

The aim was to evaluate sexual function of healthy women in Croatia and the possible impact of depression, anxiety, and sociodemographic factors. A total of 204 healthy women filled in a basic sociodemographic questionnaire, the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Anxiety Disorder-7, and Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). ⋯ Study results suggest sexual dysfunction of women in Croatia as a still unrecognized problem. More room in research and in the public must be given to this issue.

ESTABLISHMENT OF THE BONE TISSUE BANK AT MOSTAR UNIVERSITY CLINICAL HOSPITAL.
Bone tissue banks are necessary for collection, production, testing, packaging, storage and delivery of bone transplants. Bone tissue bank is a link between the donor and the recipient by which the donation becomes a medium of health improvement for both the donor and the recipient. At the Department of Orthopedics, Mostar University Clinical Hospital, about 200 total hip replacements are performed per year. ⋯ In the same Department, around 50 procedures that require bone transplants are performed per year. A team of highly competent surgeons are working on an intensive process of adaptation oriented to quality improvement and intensification of the activity, both with the goal of meeting the standards of excellence in orthopedic surgery. The presence of a bone tissue bank has a favorable impact on the quality of health care owing to bone transplant availability, as well as on the scientific role of a highly specialized institution that examines the properties of bone tissue.
