LEVEL OF PAIN AND ANALGESICS TAKEN AFTER CESAREAN SECTION AND DIFFERENCES ACCORDING TO TYPE OF ANESTHESIA AND DEMOGRAPHIC FACTORS.
The aim of this study was to investigate the level of pain and analgesic consumption in puerperas after cesarean section according to the type of anesthesia administered. This was a prospective study conducted at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mostar University Hospital, in the period from September 2015 to June 2016. The study included 111 puerperas. ⋯ Higher level of education was associated with greater need for analgesics (p=0.016). Living in urban area was associated with greater pain sensation (p=0.023) and less need for analgesics (p<0.17). Spinal anesthesia for cesarean section resulted in less pain and less need for analgesics in the postoperative period compared to general anesthesia.

Case ReportsANOTHER FACE OF EPSTEIN-BARR VIRUS INFECTION: ACUTE ACALCULOUS CHOLECYSTITIS WITH CHOLESTASIS IN A PREVIOUSLY HEALTHY FIVE-YEAR-OLD GIRL WITH PRIMARY INFECTION.
Acute acalculous cholecystitis (AAC) is a rare disease, particularly in children. The clinical and laboratory presentation of AAC is variable. ⋯ Conservative treatment and careful monitoring was followed by clinical, radiological and laboratory improvement, and finally complete recovery. Our aim was to highlight the importance of recognizing AAC as a differential diagnosis in children with abdominal pain and/or acute cholestasis.

COMPARISON OF FLEXIBLE LARYNGEAL MASK INSERTION AND ENDOTRACHEAL INTUBATION IN ADENOTONSILLECTOMY SURGERY.
This study compared the effectiveness of flexible laryngeal mask (F-LMA) insertion and endotracheal intubation in pediatric patients undergoing adenotonsillectomy surgery. A total of 60 patients aged 2-12 years were included in the study. Patients were divided into the F-LMA group (n=30) and endotracheal tube (ETT) group (n=30). ⋯ Both the insertion time and recovery time were shorter in the F-LMA group than in the ETT group (16.93±4.84 s vs. 23.93±8.74 s; and 10±2 min vs. 14.5±3 min; p<0.001 both). The airway pressure measurements at 5-min intervals were significantly lower in the F-LMA group than in the ETT group (p<0.001). F-LMA may be a useful alternative to ETT for adenotonsillectomy surgery because it is safe, provides shorter induction and recovery times, reduces intraoperative airway pressure, and provides an adequate operative field of view.

Hamartoma (from the Greek language, where hamartia means defect or an error and -oma denoting a tumor or neoplasm) is a benign tumor-like mass composed of mature tissue or cells that are present in abnormal proportions or show a disorganized arrangement. Hamartomas are rarely seen in the head and neck area and especially rare in the larynx. ⋯ The diagnosis must be confirmed histologically and the method of choice in treatment is complete excision of the lesion. The authors present a case of laryngeal hamartoma of a 43-year-old woman treated for hoarseness and paralysis of the left vocal cord.

ReviewPERINATAL ASPECTS OF SARS-CoV-2 INFECTION DURING PREGNANCY: A POTENTIAL CAUSE FOR CONCERN.
Ever since the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic, uncertainty regarding clinical presentation and differences among various subpopulations exist. With more than 209,870,000 confirmed cases and more than 4,400,000 deaths worldwide, we are facing the new era of health crisis which will undoubtedly impair global health, economic and social circumstances. ⋯ Although neonates diagnosed with COVID-19 were mostly asymptomatic or presented with mild disease, the effect on early pregnancy is yet to be evident. While positive finding of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in some samples such as amniotic fluid, placental tissue, cord blood and breast milk exists, additional research should confirm its association with transplacental transmission.
