A reliability generalization study of a questionnaire is necessary to provide higher-level evidence for its reliability. This has not been performed for the Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment-Achilles tendinopathy (VISA-A) questionnaire. The VISA-A has been a commonly used questionnaire to evaluate the symptoms of Achilles tendon disorders and their impact on physical activity, one of the most common disorders among athletes and sports persons (9%-40%). Furthermore, this questionnaire has been translated to several languages and due to its simplicity is one of the most widely used questionnaires for patients with this type of disorder. Therefore, we performed a reliability generalization study of the VISA-A using MEDLINE (through PubMed) and Scopus as data sources. ⋯ Level I, meta-analysis of literature.

Fractures of the proximal fifth metatarsal are one of the most common foot injuries in athletes. Repetitive stresses endured by the fifth metatarsal can lead to stress fracture, delayed union, and refracture, making optimal treatment challenging. A radiographic analysis of fifth metatarsal morphology and foot type in National Football League (NFL) players was performed to investigate morphologic risk factors for these injuries. ⋯ Level III, retrospective comparative study.

Proximal Interphalangeal Arthrodesis of Lesser Toes Utilizing K-Wires Versus Expanding Implants: Comparative Biomechanical Cadaveric Study.
Lesser toe proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint arthrodesis is one of the most common foot and ankle elective procedures often using K-wires for fixation. K-wire associated complications led to development of intramedullary fixation devices. We hypothesized that X Fuse (Stryker) and Smart Toe (Stryker) would provide stronger and stiffer fixation than K-wire fixation. ⋯ Our findings provide new data supporting biomechanical stability of K-wires for lesser toe PIP arthrodesis, at least in this clinically relevant mode of cyclic loading.

Extended Sinus Tarsi Approach for Treatment of Displaced Intraarticular Calcaneal Fractures Compared to Extended Lateral Approach.
We compared the radiographic results and clinical outcomes of patients operated on via the extended sinus tarsi approach (ESTA) and the extended lateral approach (ELA) for treatment of displaced intraarticular calcaneal fractures. ⋯ Level III, comparative study.

Possible Implications for Bundled Payment Models of Comorbidities and Complications as Drivers of Cost in Total Ankle Arthroplasty.
The Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) model provides bundled payments for in-hospital and 90-day postdischarge care of patients undergoing total ankle arthroplasty (TAA). Defining patient factors associated with increased costs during TAA could help identify modifiable preoperative patient factors that could be addressed prior to the patient entering the bundle, as well as determine targets for cost reduction in postoperative care. ⋯ Level II, prognostic prospective cohort study.
