Our objective is to inform and provide framework for early stage surgeon scientist training and support. ⋯ This guidance enhances awareness of essential education, communication, infrastructure, resources, and advocacy by surgery leaders and other stakeholders to promote quality research training in residency and to re-invigorate the surgeon scientist pipeline.

Gender Differences in Entrustable Professional Activity Evaluations of General Surgery Residents.
To determine differences in entrustable professional activity (EPA) assessments between male and female general surgery residents. ⋯ Faculty assessments showed no difference in EPA levels between male and female residents. Female residents rate themselves lower by nearly an entire post graduate year (PGY) level compared to male residents. Latent dirichlet allocation -identified topics suggest this difference in self-assessment is related to differences in perception of autonomy.

Outcomes of Robotic Living Donor Right Hepatectomy From 52 Consecutive Cases: Comparison With Open and Laparoscopy-assisted Donor Hepatectomy.
To investigate the feasibility and safety of RLDRH. ⋯ RLDRH resulted in less blood loss compared with that of CODRH and similar postoperative complication rates to CODRH and LADRH. RLDRH provided better body image and cosmetic results compared with those of LADRH. RLDRH is feasible and safe when performed by surgeons experienced with both robotic and open hepatectomy.

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of combined vascular resection (VR) in advanced perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (PHC). ⋯ VR salvages a large number of patients from having locally advanced PHC that is otherwise unresectable and is recommended if the hilar hepatic inflow vessels are reconstructable, providing acceptable surgical outcomes and substantial survival benefits.

Surgical site infection (SSI) prevention remains significant, particularly in the era of antimicrobial resistance. Feedback on practices and outcomes is known to be key to reduce SSI rates and optimize antibiotic usage. However, the optimal method, format and frequency of feedback for surgical teams remains unclear. The objective of the study is to understand how data from surveillance and audit are fed back in routine surgical practice. ⋯ Our findings highlight the need to provide feedback to all levels of perioperative care providers involved in patient care. Future research in this area should report implementation parameters in more detail.
