To evaluate outcomes after primary surgery (PS) or neoadjuvant treatment followed by surgery (NAT/S) in cT2 staged adenocarcinomas of the esophagus (EAC) and gastroesophageal junction (GEJ), a multinational high-volume center study was undertaken. ⋯ Due to the unreliable identification of cT2N0 disease, all patients should be offered a multimodal therapeutic approach.

Multinational Analysis of Marginal Liver Grafts Based on the Eurotransplant Extended Donor Criteria.
To evaluate the outcome of marginal liver grafts based on the Eurotransplant extended criteria donor (ECD) criteria. ⋯ The outcome of transplanted grafts from higher risk donors was nearly equal to standard donors with Eurotransplant criteria failing to predict survival of marginal grafts. Modifying ECD criteria could improve graft allocation and potentially expand the donor pool.

To determine the interobserver variability for complications of pancreatoduodenectomy as defined by the International Study Group for Pancreatic Surgery (ISGPS) and others. ⋯ The interobserver variability for the ISGPS-defined complications of pancreatoduodenectomy was too high even though the "within centers" agreement was acceptable. Since these findings will decrease the quality and validity of clinical studies, ISGPS has started efforts aimed at reducing the interobserver variability.

Influence of Socioeconomic Deprivation on Surgical Outcomes for Patients With Sigmoid Diverticulitis in France: A Multicenter Retrospective Study.
To evaluate the relationship between socioeconomic deprivation and postoperative outcomes in patients who underwent colonic resection for sigmoid diverticulitis (SD). ⋯ This study highlights the potential influence of socioeconomic deprivation on the surgical outcomes of SD. Socioeconomic deprivation should be considered as a risk factor for severe postoperative complications during the preoperative assessment of the patient's medical conditions.

This study aimed to assess short-term biliary outcomes in adult living donor liver transplants using right grafts, comparing robotic surgery with real-time indocyanine green fluorescence cholangiography for optimal hilar plate transection, against the conventional open approach. ⋯ The robotic platform with integrated real-time indocyanine green fluorescence cholangiography during right donor hepatectomy offers improved safety for the donor by accurately addressing the right hilar corridor, resulting in fewer graft ducts and fewer complications for the donor and recipient when compared to the standard open approach.
