To assess the current quality of surgical outcome reporting in the medical literature, and to provide recommendations for improvement. ⋯ The quality of outcome reporting in the medical literature remains poor lacking improvement over the past 20 years on most key endpoints. The implementation of standardized outcome reporting is urgently needed to minimize biased interpretation of data thereby enabling improved patient care and the elaboration of meaningful guidelines.

Examine the association between prior SARS-CoV-2 infection, interval from infection to surgery, and adverse surgical outcomes. ⋯ In a contemporary surgical cohort, patients with prior SARS-CoV-2 infection only had increased post-operative mortality or complications when they had surgery within 14 days after positive test. These findings support revising timing recommendations between surgery and prior SARS-CoV-2 infection.

To analyze the outcomes of urgent/emergent endovascular aortic repair of patients with free/contained ruptured thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (rTAAA). ⋯ Endovascular repair of rTAAA shows high technical success; the presence of free rupture alone appear not to correlate with early mortality. Effective prevention/management of post-operative complications is crucial for survival.

Current study aims to investigate whether serum exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) could be potential biomarkers in predicting APs with POF at early phase. ⋯ Serum exosomal Cmi may be an early predictor for POF in AP, even within "golden hours" after AP onset.

The aim of this international multicentric study is to characterize postoperative hyperamylasemia (POH) after distal pancreatectomy (DP), with particular focus on its relationship with postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) occurrence and severity. ⋯ The occurrence of POH is an early predictor of POPF and its severity after DP. The diagnosis of POH might define patients at higher risk for a complicated course, targeting them for prevention / mitigation strategies against pancreas specific complications.
