Comparison of Laparoscopic versus Robot-Assisted Surgery for Rectal Cancers: The COLRAR Randomized Controlled Trial.
To evaluate whether robotic for middle or low rectal cancer produces an improvement in surgical outcomes compared with laparoscopic surgery in a randomized controlled trial (RCT). ⋯ In patients with middle or low rectal cancer, robotic-assisted surgery did not significantly improve the TME quality compared with conventional laparoscopic surgery (ClinicalTrial.gov ID: NCT01042743).

Deep Learning for Fully Automated Prediction of Overall Survival in Patients Undergoing Resection for Pancreatic Cancer: A Retrospective Multicenter Study.
To develop an imaging-derived biomarker for prediction of overall survival (OS) of pancreatic cancer by analyzing preoperative multiphase contrast-enhanced computed topography (CECT) using deep learning. ⋯ Deep learning-based CT imaging-derived biomarker enabled the objective and unbiased OS prediction for patients with resectable PDAC. This marker is applicable across hospitals, imaging protocols, and treatments, and has the potential to tailor neoadjuvant and adjuvant treatments at the individual level.

Early Recurrence After Resection of Locally Advanced Pancreatic Cancer Following Induction Therapy: An International Multicenter Study.
To establish an evidence-based cutoff and predictors for early recurrence in patients with resected locally advanced pancreatic cancer (LAPC). ⋯ Early recurrence was observed in one third of patients after LAPC resection and was associated with poor survival. Patients with post-induction therapy CA 19-9 ≥100 U/mL, poor tumor differentiation and no adjuvant therapy were especially at risk. This information is valuable for patient counseling before and after resection of LAPC.

Implementation and Outcome of Robotic Liver Surgery in the Netherlands: A Nationwide Analysis.
To determine the nationwide implementation and surgical outcome of minor and major robotic liver surgery (RLS) and assess the first phase of implementation of RLS during the learning curve. ⋯ The nationwide use of RLS in the Netherlands has increased rapidly with currently one-tenth of all liver resections and one-fourth of all minimally invasive liver resections being performed robotically. Although surgical outcomes of RLS in selected patient seem favorable, future prospective studies should determine its added value.

Grading Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors via Endoscopic Ultrasound-guided Fine Needle Aspiration: A Multi-Institutional Study.
To identify factors associated with concordance between World Health Organization (WHO) grade on cytological analysis (c-grade) and histopathological analysis (h-grade) of surgical specimen in patients with PanNETs and examine trends in utilization and accuracy of EUS-FNA in preoperatively predicting grade. ⋯ Recently, a trend towards increasing utilization and improved diagnostic accuracy of EUS-FNA has been observed in PanNETs. Concordance between c-grade and h-grade is associated with tumor size with near-perfect agreement when assessing PanNETs <2cm in size.
