A Breakthrough Improvement Collaborative Significantly Reduces Hospital Stay after Elective Colectomy for Cancer Across a Healthcare System.
This multicenter study aimed to assess (1) the effect of an improvement collaborative on enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocol adherence after elective colectomy and (2) the association between adherence and patient outcomes. ⋯ A peer-constructed improvement collaborative effectively increases adherence to an ERAS protocol in individual hospitals. Across time, length of stay and postoperative complications decreased significantly, and a dose-response relationship was observed.

Management of Pathogenic CDH1 Variant Carriers within the FREGAT Network: A multicentric Retrospective Study.
To describe the management of pathogenic CDH1 variant carriers (pCDH1vc) within the FREGAT (FRench Eso-GAsTric tumor) network. Primary objective focused on clinical outcomes and pathological findings, Secondary objective was to identify risk factor predicting postoperative morbidity (POM). ⋯ Among pCDH1vc, index cases carry a dismal prognosis. The risk of cancer among patients undergoing PTG remained high and unpredictable and has to be balanced with the morbidity and functional consequence of PTG.

Machine Learning Risk Prediction Model of 90-day Mortality after Gastrectomy for Cancer.
To develop and validate a risk prediction model of 90-day mortality (90DM) using machine learning in a large multicenter cohort of patients undergoing gastric cancer resection with curative intent. ⋯ A robust clinical model for predicting the risk of 90DM after surgery of gastric cancer was developed. Its use may aid patients and surgeons in making informed decisions.

Evaluating the Role of Circulating MicroRNAs to Aid Therapeutic Decision Making for Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Breast Cancer - A Prospective, Multicenter Clinical Trial.
To evaluate whether circulating micro ribonucleic acids (miRNAs) predict response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) and inform decision-making in breast cancer patients. ⋯ This study illustrates the potential value of circulatory miRNA measurement in predicting response to NAC. Further interrogation of these findings may see miRNAs personalize therapeutic decision-making for patients undergoing NAC for early breast cancer.

Long-term Satisfaction with Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery: Results from a Multicenter Prospective Cohort Study.
The aim of this study was to examine change in overall satisfaction with Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery over 3 to 7 years post-surgery and identify pre-surgery predictors and post-surgery factors associated with not being satisfied. ⋯ Level of satisfaction with RYGB surgery significantly decreased 3 to 7 years following surgery. Several pre- and post-surgery characteristics were associated with not being satisfied with surgery and provide potentially useful insight into individual patient experiences following RYGB. Knowledge of these characteristics may be useful in communication between surgeons and patients regarding post-surgical expectations and the impact of surgery on patients' lives.
