This study aimed to determine the relationship between early postoperative nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) administration and postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) and anastomotic leak. ⋯ Administration of NSAIDs in the early postoperative period is safe in selected patients following major gastrointestinal surgery.

Surgical Complications in a Multicenter Randomized Trial Comparing Preoperative Chemoradiotherapy and Immediate Surgery in Patients With Resectable and Borderline Resectable Pancreatic Cancer (PREOPANC Trial).
To investigate the effect of preoperative chemoradiotherapy on surgical complications in patients after pancreatic resection for (borderline-)resectable pancreatic cancer. ⋯ Preoperative chemoradiotherapy did not increase the incidence of surgical complications or mortality and reduced the rate of postoperative pancreatic fistula after resection in patients with (borderline-)resectable pancreatic cancer.

The aim of this study was to characterize hospital-level variation and establish diagnostic performance benchmarks for postoperative imaging in children with complicated appendicitis. ⋯ Significant variation exists across hospitals in imaging practices to diagnose suspected OSI following appendectomy. Imaging utilization benchmarking may assist hospitals in prioritizing quality improvement efforts to optimize resource utilization and radiation stewardship.

Ten-year Evaluation of a Large Retrospective Cohort Treated by Sacral Nerve Modulation for Fecal Incontinence: Results of a French Multicenter Study.
The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of sacral nerve modulation (SNM) in a large cohort of patients implanted for at least 10 years, quantify adverse event rates, and identify predictive factors of long-term success. ⋯ Long-term efficacy was maintained in approximately half of the FI patients treated by SNM at least 10 years post-implantation.

Robot-assisted Versus Conventional Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy for Resectable Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Early Results of a Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial: the RAMIE Trial.
To compare perioperative and long-term outcomes of robot-assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RAMIE) and conventional minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) in the treatment for patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). ⋯ Early results demonstrate that both RAMIE and MIE are safe and feasible for the treatment of ESCC. RAMIE can achieve shorter operative duration and better lymph node dissection in patients who received neoadjuvant therapy. Long-term results are pending for further follow-up investigations.
