Retrospective study. ⋯ Acute tetraplegic cervical SCI patients had reduced hypercapnic drive response that may contribute to the difficult weaning, without reduction in hypercapnic ventilatory response.

Spinal tuberculosis as all other osteoarticular tuberculosis occurs as a result of hematogenous dissemination of Mycobacterium tuberculosis from a primarily infected visceral focus mainly lungs, but Pott's paraplegia occurring secondarily to Scrofuloderma has not been reported till date. ⋯ Pott's paraplegia can occur secondary to Scrofuloderma and it can be managed by multidrug antitubercular therapy and minimally invasive surgical procedure.

Prospective cohort. ⋯ This initial longitudinal assessment and characterization of SCI-related pain in earthquake victims provides a foundation for further exploration of the biological and psychosocial determinants of pain severity and of the correlation of chronic pain with other outcomes of interest in this population. Patient pain-treatment-seeking behavior and therapeutic interventions should be evaluated concurrently.

MRI evidence that glibenclamide reduces acute lesion expansion in a rat model of spinal cord injury.
Experimental, controlled, animal study. ⋯ MRI is an accurate non-invasive imaging biomarker of lesion expansion and is a sensitive measure of the ability of glibenclamide to reduce lesion expansion.

Retrospective chart review. ⋯ Even though cystoscopy filled the bladder to lesser volumes than did urodynamics (150 ml vs 500 ml), during cystoscopy the individuals developed greater changes in systolic BP, indicating that stimulation of the urethra/prostate/internal sphincter region probably is a more potent stimulus of AD than just the filling of the bladder. The severity of AD also increased with time post SCI during both procedures. Considering the high incidence of silent episodes of AD during the urological procedures, it is recommended that monitoring of cardiovascular parameters during these procedures be routinely performed.
