Meta AnalysisSummarising published results from spirometric surveys of COPD: the problem of inconsistent definitions.
The use of different spirometric definitions for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has made an informative review of the available prevalence surveys impossible. ⋯ Using the BOLD data, we have been able to estimate COPD prevalences based on post-bronchodilator FEV1/FVC < LLN by adjusting estimates based on other common definitions, enabling more meaningful comparisons of published findings.

Multicenter StudySurvey of tuberculosis drug resistance among Tibetan refugees in India.
Tuberculosis (TB) is a major health problem among Tibetans living in exile in India. Although drug-resistant TB is considered common in clinical practice, precise data are lacking. ⋯ MDR-TB is common in new and previously treated Tibetans in India, who also show additional complex resistance patterns. Of particular concern is the high percentage of MDR-TB strains resistant to OFX, KM or both.

Predictors of contact tracing completion and outcomes in tuberculosis: a 21-year retrospective cohort study.
Birmingham, UK, 1990-2010. ⋯ Contact tracing of both PTB and EPTB index cases is useful for active case finding. The findings of this study can be used to target screening and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of local contact tracing programmes.
