Antibiotic Sensitivity /Resistance Pattern of Hospital Acquired Blood Stream Infection in Children Cancer Patients: A Retrospective Study.
The literature shows a growing emphasis on understanding the local patterns of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). We aimed to evaluate the spectrum of local microorganisms that cause bloodstream infections (BSI) and their AMR patterns in an Egyptian institution treating children with cancer. ⋯ Resistance proportions (pattern) were similar to those reported in other countries with a higher distribution of E coli and a growing resistance to levofloxacin. Further investigation of the predisposing factors and the development of more effective strategies for the prevention of BSI should be a significant public health priority.

Microwave ablation as an efficient therapy for primary hyperparathyroidism: Efficacy and predictors of treatment success.
Microwave ablation (MWA) has great potential for the treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism, but as predictors and therapeutic efficiency have not been fully clarified, further investigations are required. ⋯ Although no predictor of treatment success could be determined, MWA might be an effective treatment in patients with PHPT.

The Evaluation Of Urinary Incontinence In Secondary School Children And Risk Factors: A Epidemiological Study.
Urinary incontinence is an important problem that can arise due to neurogenic or functional reasons and negatively affect the psychological, social and personality development of children. This study was conducted on secondary school students to determine the prevalence and risk factors of urinary incontinence at night and/or in the daytime. ⋯ Children with urinary incontinence and their families need medical information and support to reach the root of the problem and seek solutions. Accompanying pathologies in detected cases can be determined in the early period by means of school screenings, and medical evaluation and support can prevent adverse effects on children's psychosocial and personality development.

Relationship Between Acanthosis Nigricans, Acrochordon and Metabolic Syndrome in Patients with Lichen Planus.
In the literature, there are no data examining the association with lichen planus with acanthosis nigricans and acrochordon, which are skin findings of metabolic syndrome (MS). ⋯ In our study, it was found that skin findings such as AN and acrochordon increased in patients with lichen planus. This increase was also observed in lichen planus patients with metabolic syndrome. Therefore, the association of acanthosis nigricans and acrochordon may be a predictive of metabolic syndrome in patients with lichen planus admitted to the dermatology outpatient clinic.

Investigation the levels of endotoxin and 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine in sera of patients with Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcer.
Peptic ulcer is considered an important public health problem and generally associated with complicated conditions such as bleeding and perforation. The aim of this study is to reflect the rate of oxidative damage in the body among dyspeptic patients with Helicobacter pylori-positive peptic ulcer by measuring 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) level in serum samples and its association with the level of bacterial endotoxin. ⋯ Serum 8-OHdG and endotoxin levels are only weakly associated implying that they reflect specific aspects of oxidative damage. Helicobacter pylori and its endotoxin have a significant role in peptic ulcer pathogenesis. The detection of serum 8-OHdG in dyspeptic patients may be used as a biomarker for the presence of peptic ulcers.
