Aerosol therapy has the advantage of a higher safety because of the local deposition of inhaled medication to the lung; however, the main drawback is the low and variable amount of delivered drug to patients. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the effect of different accessory connections on aerosol delivery from different nebulisers. ⋯ Using a valved chamber with jet and VMNs significantly improved the inhaled amount of the emitted aerosol. VMNs were more effective than jet nebulisers with both connections.

Increased risk of shoulder calcific tendinopathy in diabetes mellitus: a nationwide, population-based, matched cohort study.
Calcific tendinopathy of the rotator cuff is a common cause of painful disability in the shoulder with unclear aetiology. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is associated with calcific tendinopathy; however, large epidemiological data are lacking. Thus, we conducted a nationwide population-based matched cohort study to investigate the risk for calcific tendinopathy of the shoulder in diabetic patients. ⋯ This study demonstrated that patients with DM had a 27% increased risk of developing calcific tendinopathy of the shoulder, 8 years after initially being diagnosed with DM.

Computed Tomography Enterocolongraphy In Assessment Of Degree Of Ulcerative Colitis Activity.
Inflammatory bowel diseases are gaining more interest in the past few years. Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic disease that requires accurate follow-up for a good treatment plan. Colonoscopy alone cannot be efficient to detect disease extent and has a high risk of perforation in acute severe UC and toxic megacolon. Computed tomographic enterocolonography (CTE) is widely used now to detect intramural, extra-intestinal involvement and intestinal complications. Hence, this study aimed to evaluate CTE in the assessment of the degree of activity of UC. ⋯ CTE is a good tool for diagnosing disease activity in UC.
