The Relationship Between Frontal QRS-T Angle and the Severity of Newly Diagnosed Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterised by persistent airflow restriction and respiratory symptoms. Studies demonstrated that cardiac arrhythmias and cardiovascular mortality increased in these patients as a result of altered myocardial repolarization. Frontal QRS-T angle is a novel marker of myocardial depolarization and repolarization heterogeneity. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between frontal QRS-T angle and disease severity in patients with newly diagnosed COPD. ⋯ Frontal QRS-T angle is an easily obtainable marker form surface electrocardiography. In this study, we have shown for the first time that frontal QRS-T angle was significantly increased in patients with severe and very severe COPD.

Diagnostic performance of miR-214, BNP, NT-proBNP and soluble ST2 in acute heart failure.
This study aimed to investigate the potential diagnostic value of miR-214, B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), N terminal-pro BNP (NT-proBNP) and soluble ST2 (sST2) in acute heart failure (AHF). ⋯ MiR-214, BNP, NT-proBNP and sST2 can be used as effective biomarkers for AHF, providing a new strategy for diagnosis and for judging the severity of AHF.

Impact of Nutritional Assessment on Long-Term Outcomes in Patients with Carotid Artery Stenting.
Malnutrition is associated with poor clinical outcomes in many diseases. The Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) is an objective index used for evaluating nutritional status of hospitalised patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between malnutrition assessed by CONUT score and the prognosis in patients undergoing carotid artery stenting (CAS). ⋯ Higher CONUT scores were associated with adverse outcomes in patients with CAS. Malnutrition assessed by the CONUT score is preferable with regards to the detection of MACE in patients with CAS. Larger studies are warranted to investigate if our preliminary findings translate into clinical outcomes in patients with CAS.

Evaluation of the role of Chlamydia trachomatis in primary male infertility.
This study aimed to find out the potential role of Chlamydia trachomatis (C. trachomatis) in male primary infertility and to recommend an easy, rapid, and sensitive diagnostic tool for its detection. ⋯ C. trachomatis infection adversely affects the fertility potential in males because of its effect on the motility and vitality of sperms. We can rely on the detection of anti-chlamydia IgA antibodies in seminal plasma as a rapid sensitive diagnostic test for the detection of C. trachomatis infection.
