The Association between Deoxyribonucleic Acid Hypermethylation in Intron VII and Human Leukocyte Antigen-C∗07 Expression in Patients with Endometriosis.
Endometriosis, which is a common disease affecting approximately 10% of women of reproductive age, usually causes dysmenorrhea and infertility, thus seriously harming the patients' physical and mental health. However, there is a mean delay of 6.7 years between the onset of the symptoms and the surgical diagnosis of endometriosis. There is an increasing amount of evidence that suggests that epigenetic aberrations, including deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) methylation, play a definite role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. This study aimed to explore the noninvasive or minimally invasive biomarkers of this disease. ⋯ Deoxyribonucleic acid hypermethylation in the intron VII of the HLA-C∗07 gene appears to regulate the expression of HLA-C∗07. The aberrant DNA methylation in this region was positively correlated with the occurrence of endometriosis.

Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Analysis on the Relationship between the Mandibular Third Molar and the Position of the Mandibular Canal in Koreans from the Yanbian Area and the Han People.
To analyze differences in the positional relationships between the mandibular third molar (MTM) and the mandibular canal in Korean and Han patients using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and to provide a basis for preoperative risk assessments. ⋯ There are some differences in the positional relationship between the mandibular canal in the MTM region and the rate of cortical bone disruption between Koreans from the Yanbian area and the Hans. This should gain clinical attention.

Quality of Life and Psychometric Characteristics of Syrian Refugee Physicians Who Migrated to Turkey: A Cross-Sectional Study.
The concept of migration comes with various problems, affecting the quality of life and psychological state of immigrants. This study aimed to investigate the quality of life and depression and anxiety states of physicians who immigrated to Turkey after the civil war that started in Syria in 2011. ⋯ The overall quality of life of most refugee physicians in Turkey was high, and the BDI and BAI scores were also below the threshold values. Further qualitative studies that allow in-depth analyses may reveal underlying factors for this situation.

Association between the Weight-Adjusted Waist Index and Serum Uric Acid: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Serum uric acid (SUA) was closely related to body metabolism. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the adult weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) and SUA. ⋯ This study showed that the WWI was a newly developed and new predictor of centripetal obesity independent of body weight and there was a positive correlation between the WWI and SUA.

Observational Studyα-Klotho: An Early Risk-Predictive Biomarker for Acute Kidney Injury in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction.
Acute kidney injury (AKI) was a common and serious complication in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Novel biomarkers and therapies were deficient and imperative for AKI's early diagnosis and therapy after AMI. α-Klotho was considered as an early biomarker and potential therapy for AKI recently. Previous studies reported that the expression of α-Klotho was decreased in AKI rodents, and supplement of α-Klotho alleviated kidney injury. Nevertheless, its effect has not been studied in patients presenting with AMI. ⋯ Compared with traditional cardiac and renal biomarkers, serum α-Klotho could be a more appropriate predict biomarker for AKI after AMI in patients' eGFR >60 ml/min ∗ 1.73 m2. Higher α-Klotho levels are related to the development of AKI during hospitalization and suggest a higher prevalence of CKD after discharge. By contrary to animal experiments, whether the increased expression of α-Klotho could be a protective factor secreted by AKI after AMI, is remained to be further studied.
