Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyReduction in microalbuminuria by calcium channel blockers in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension-A randomized, open-label, active-controlled, superiority, parallel-group clinical trial.
It has been suggested that renoprotection with calcium channel blockers (CCBs) may differ. This study aimed to compare the anti-proteinuric effect of different CCBs in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). ⋯ Cilnidipine did not show any additional anti-albuminuric effect compared with amlodipine in patients with T2D and microalbuminuria treated with an RAS blocker. However, the anti-albuminuric effect of cilnidipine might differ according to the duration of diabetes.

Multicenter Study Comparative Study Observational StudyMajor bleeding risk among non-valvular atrial fibrillation patients initiated on apixaban, dabigatran, rivaroxaban or warfarin: a "real-world" observational study in the United States.
Limited data are available about the real-world safety of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOACs). ⋯ Among newly anticoagulated NVAF patients in the real-world setting, initiation with rivaroxaban or warfarin was associated with a significantly greater risk of major bleeding compared with initiation on apixaban. When compared with warfarin, initiation with apixaban was associated with significantly lower risk of major bleeding. Additional observational studies are required to confirm these findings.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEfficacy and safety of canagliflozin in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus living in hot climates.
Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) have increased risk of adverse events (AEs; e.g. dehydration, hypoglycaemia) in hot weather. This analysis assessed the efficacy and safety of canagliflozin, a sodium glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, in patients with T2DM who live in hot climates. ⋯ ClinicalTrials.gov NCT01081834, NCT01106677, NCT01106625, NCT01106690, NCT00968812.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyTelemonitoring in heart failure patients treated by cardiac resynchronisation therapy with defibrillator (CRT-D): the TELECART Study.
Telemonitoring (TM) is a safe and efficient monitoring system for internal cardioverter defibrillator device (ICD) recipients. TM has been used to track info on the clinical status of heart failure patients treated by ICD and/or cardiac resynchronisation therapy defibrillator (CRT-D). The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of TM on clinical outcomes in a population of CRT-D patients with heart failure. ⋯ Taken together, our data indicate the importance of TM in predicting heart failure hospitalisation in patients treated with CRT-D.

Multicenter StudyEffectiveness of treatment with biologic- and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs in rheumatoid arthritis patients in Colombia.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease cause of disability and high costs. To determine the effectiveness of therapy with biologic- and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) in patients with RA and factors associated with the control of the disease. ⋯ Biological and DMARDs therapy for RA was effective in a relevant proportion of Colombian patients as a consequence of management with strategies set on remission aims quantified using DAS28. Cost-effectiveness of the therapy must be evaluated.
