Changes in Early T-Cell Subsets and Their Impact on Prognosis in Patients with Sepsis: A Single-Center Retrospective Study.
To analyze the early changes in CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+T-cell subset counts in patients with sepsis and their correlation with prognosis to provide a feasible basis for clinical immunomodulation in sepsis. ⋯ In the early stage of sepsis, most patients showed a decrease in CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+T-cell subsets, as well as in the CD4+/CD8+ ratio. The decrease in CD3+ and CD4+/CD8+ was related to some poor prognosis.

Differentiation of Epileptic Brain Abnormalities among Neurological Patients at Taif Region Using MRI.
This study was conducted to assess the prevalence of epilepsy among different age groups and gender of neurological patients in the Taif region and define the most common brain lesion, affecting epileptic patients living in the Taif city using MRI. Data from 150 patients who were clinically diagnosed with epilepsy and had brain MRIs were analyzed using SPSS. Statistical significance was considered when the p value is 0.05. ⋯ Moreover, white matter lesions were most commonly found in the studied group (27.7%), followed by focal lesions, edema, and stroke with equal percentages (16.9%) and less commonly with congenital diseases (12%) and atrophic changes (9.6%). Epilepsy was more pronounced in females than in males at certain age groups. White matter lesions were identified as the most common lesion, presenting in epilepsy patients in the Taif city.

Leptin Receptor Gln223Arg Polymorphism of Human Spermatozoa Associated with Male Infertility in a Chinese Population.
Leptin (LEP) is believed to play a crucial role in male reproduction, while the molecular mechanisms through which LEP affects the male reproductive system are unclear. LEP acts by binding to a leptin receptor (LEPR) which mediates its physiological action, but there are only limited studies on the function of LEPR in human sperm. ⋯ This study reveals a possible association between the Gln223Arg polymorphism of the LEPR gene in spermatozoa affecting spermatozoal membrane integrity and having a direct role in sperm motility.

Clinical Characteristics and Risk Factors for Allergic Rhinitis in Children with Epistaxis.
Epistaxis is frequently observed in children with allergic rhinitis. However, few studies have addressed the clinical characteristics and risk factors for allergic rhinitis in children with epistaxis. This study aimed to describe the factors associated with allergic rhinitis in children with epistaxis. ⋯ Observing the onset season, number of allergens, total IgE, and nasal symptoms in cases of epistaxis could suggest the presence of associated allergic rhinitis and reduce the number of missed diagnoses; antiallergic drugs could help control epistaxis in these cases.

Comparison of the Oral Health-Related Quality of Life, Sleep Quality, and Oral Health Literacy in Sleep and Awake Bruxism: Results from Family Medicine Practice.
Bruxism is a common oral behaviour. This study aimed to compare oral health-related quality of life, sleep quality, and oral health literacy in patients with and without possible sleep bruxism (SB) and awake bruxism (AB). ⋯ A lower oral health-related quality of life and poor sleep quality would be expected in the presence of SB or AB. However, patients may not be aware of it unless asked by a physician regardless of oral health literacy level.
