ReviewHealth benefits of multicomponent training programmes in seniors: a systematic review.
The ageing process is intrinsically associated with decline in physical endurance, muscle strength and gait ability and balance, which all contribute to functional disability. Regular physical training, and more particularly multicomponent training (MCT), has demonstrated many health benefits. ⋯ Overall, this review demonstrates a positive effect of MCT with functional benefits and positive health outcomes for seniors. Based on this evidence, clinicians should encourage all adults aged 65 or over to engage in MCT programmes to favour healthy ageing and keeping older members of our society autonomous and independent.

IgE mediated sensitisation to aeroallergens in an asthmatic cohort: relationship with inflammatory phenotypes and disease severity.
Atopy is known to play an important role in the asthmatic disease. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the frequency of sensitisation to common aeroallergens in a cohort of asthmatics with different inflammatory phenotypes and disease severity. ⋯ Eosinophilic asthma exhibits higher total serum IgE and sensitisation rate towards animal dander while clinical severity, though also associated with higher total IgE, did not preferentially relate to any type of common aeroallergens.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyTelemonitoring in heart failure patients treated by cardiac resynchronisation therapy with defibrillator (CRT-D): the TELECART Study.
Telemonitoring (TM) is a safe and efficient monitoring system for internal cardioverter defibrillator device (ICD) recipients. TM has been used to track info on the clinical status of heart failure patients treated by ICD and/or cardiac resynchronisation therapy defibrillator (CRT-D). The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of TM on clinical outcomes in a population of CRT-D patients with heart failure. ⋯ Taken together, our data indicate the importance of TM in predicting heart failure hospitalisation in patients treated with CRT-D.

Randomized Controlled TrialEfficacy and safety of fulranumab as monotherapy in patients with moderate to severe, chronic knee pain of primary osteoarthritis: a randomised, placebo- and active-controlled trial.
The efficacy and safety of monotherapy with fulranumab, a monoclonal antibody that neutralises human nerve growth factor (NGF), was evaluated compared with placebo and an active comparator, controlled-release (CR) oxycodone, in patients with moderate to severe chronic knee pain of primary osteoarthritis (OA). ⋯ Low sample size because of early termination make interpretation of this study difficult, but fulranumab monotherapy resulted in significantly better pain relief and function compared with oxycodone CR (but not against placebo) and was generally well-tolerated.
