Resection of pelvic bone tumors and the subsequent reconstruction of the pelvic girdle pose challenges due to complex anatomy, load-bearing demands, and significant defects. 3D-printed implants have revolutionized pelvic girdle reconstruction by offering customized solutions, porous surface structures for precise resection with custom guides, and improved integration. Many tertiary medical centers have adopted 3Dprinted hemipelvic endoprostheses, leading to enhanced outcomes. ⋯ Additionally, the design of these implants often relies heavily on individual experience, resulting in a lack of uniformity and significant variation. To provide a comprehensive assessment of this technology, we conducted an analysis of existing literature, encompassing tumor resection classification, various types of prosthesis design, reconstruction concepts, and post-reconstruction functional outcomes.

The Endoscopic Surgical Skill Qualification System (ESSQS) in Japan evaluates the surgical skills required for laparoscopic surgery as an operator as well as a supervisor. This study aimed to demonstrate the benefits of an ESSQS-certified surgeon's participation in laparoscopic rectal resections as a supervisor (assistant or advisor). ⋯ This study demonstrated the educational benefits of ESSQS-certified supervisors, including assistants and advisors, evidenced by their superior short-term outcomes.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation for Intermittent Claudication (NESIC): multicentre, randomized controlled trial.
This was an open, multicentre, randomized controlled trial. Patients with intermittent claudication attending vascular surgery outpatient clinics were randomized (1:1) to receive either neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) or not in addition to local standard care available at study centres (best medical therapy alone or plus supervised exercise therapy (SET)). The objective of this trial was to investigate the clinical efficacy of an NMES device in addition to local standard care in improving walking distances in patients with claudication. The primary outcome was change in absolute walking distance, measured by a standardized treadmill test at 3 months. Secondary outcomes included intermittent claudication (IC) distance, adherence, quality of life, and haemodynamic changes. ⋯ Supervised exercise therapy is effective and NMES may provide further benefit in mild IC.This trial was supported by a grant from the Efficacy and Mechanism Evaluation Program, a Medical Research Council and National Institute for Health and Care Research partnership. Trial registration: ISRCTN18242823.

Breast angiosarcoma is a rare disease mostly observed in breast cancer (BC) patients who have previously received radiotherapy (RT). Little is known about angiosarcoma aetiology, management, and outcome. The study aim was to estimate risk and to characterize breast angiosarcoma in a Swedish population-based cohort. ⋯ Breast angiosarcoma is a rare disease strongly associated with a history of previous BC RT. Overall survival is poor with high rates of local recurrences and distant metastasis.
