Review Meta Analysis
Meta-analysis of microsatellite instability in relation to clinicopathological characteristics and overall survival in gastric cancer.
Several associations between microsatellite instability (MSI) and other clinicopathological factors have been reported in gastric cancer, but the results have been ambiguous. This systematic review and meta-analysis investigated the relationship between MSI and overall survival and clinicopathological characteristics of patients with gastric cancer. ⋯ MSI in gastric cancer was associated with good overall survival, reflected in several favourable clinicopathological tumour characteristics.

Review Meta Analysis
Meta-analysis of the procedural risks of carotid endarterectomy and carotid artery stenting over time.
Stroke/death rates within 30 days of carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and carotid artery stenting (CAS) in RCTs inform current clinical guidelines. However, the risks may have changed in recent years with wider use of effective stroke prevention therapies, especially statins, improved patient selection and growing operator expertise. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the procedural stroke/death risks from CEA and CAS have changed over time. ⋯ Risks of procedural stroke/death following CEA appear to have decreased substantially. There was no evidence of a change in stroke/death rates following CAS.

Review Meta Analysis
Meta-analysis of the prognostic value of CpG island methylator phenotype in gastric cancer.
CpG island methylator phenotype (CIMP) has been identified as a distinct molecular subtype of gastric cancer, yet associations with survival are conflicting. A meta-analysis was performed to estimate the prognostic significance of CIMP. ⋯ There was heterogeneity in the gene panels used to identify CIMP, which may explain the survival differences.

Review Meta Analysis
Systematic review and network meta-analysis of methods of mesh fixation during laparoscopic ventral hernia repair.
Ventral hernia repairs are common and have high recurrence rates. They are usually repaired laparoscopically with an intraperitoneal mesh, which can be fixed in various ways. The aim was to evaluate the recurrence rates for the different fixation techniques. ⋯ Both crude recurrence rates and the network meta-analysis favoured fixation with sutures during laparoscopic ventral hernia repair.

Review Meta Analysis
Meta-analysis of the association between peripheral artery disease and growth of abdominal aortic aneurysms.
The role of atherosclerosis in the pathogenesis of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is controversial. Atherosclerosis-associated peripheral artery disease (PAD) has been reported to be a risk factor for AAA in population screening studies; its relationship with AAA growth is controversial. ⋯ This systematic review suggests that currently reported studies demonstrate no robust and consistent association between PAD and reduced AAA growth.
