The biochemical effectiveness of N-acetylcysteine in experimental spinal cord injury in rats.
In this study, we investigated the biochemical effectiveness of methylprednisolone, N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and methylprednisolone combined with NAC treatment in experimental spinal cord injury in rats. ⋯ Methylprednisolone, NAC and methylprednisolone plus NAC treatments have potential biochemical benefits in preventing secondary injury in experimental spinal cord injury in rats.

In this study, it was aimed to assess patients who applied to our clinics with the complaints of thorax trauma, consistent thoracal wall injury, complications due to these traumas, and the therapeutical methodology. ⋯ Thoracal wall injuries increase morbidity and mortality due to the close proximity of the chest wall to the cardiopulmonary system. At the initial evaluation, even without any corresponding intrathoracic pathology, these patients must be monitored attentively for a probable cardiopulmonary complication for consecutive days.

[Fournier's gangrene: analysis of risk factors affecting the prognosis and cost of therapy in 18 cases].
Fournier's gangrene (FG) is a rapidly progressive, polymicrobial, synergistic necrotizing fasciitis, and the mortality rate is still high. We aimed to determine the risk factors affecting prognosis and treatment cost. ⋯ Female gender, duration of complaint, FG severity point, and cultivated microorganism (E. Coli) were thought to affect mortality. FG is a disease that might cause extended hospital stay and high treatment cost.
