Randomized Controlled Trial Observational Study
Effects of javanica oil emulsion injection combined with radiotherapy versus radiotherapy alone on the efficacy and safety in patients with esophageal cancer: a pooled analysis of 1269 cases.
To assess the effectiveness and safety of javanica oil emulsion injection (JOEI) when combined with radiotherapy (RT) in patients with esophageal cancer. ⋯ JOEI in combination with RT could benefit esophageal cancer patients with improved rate of response and quality of life, prolonged survival, and reduced incidence of adverse events. However, these results should be viewed with caution due to the limited quality of the included studies.

The effect of anaesthetic management on neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (NGAL) levels after robotic surgical oncology.
The main objective of this study was to compare the effect of two anaesthetic techniques (general vs combined) on plasma levels of NGAL (Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin) after robotic urogenital oncosurgery. The secondary objective was to correlate NGAL levels with the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI). ⋯ Impaired renal function and AKI occurred in robot-assisted laparoscopic urogenital oncosurgery under both general and combined anaesthesia. The incidence of AKI was lower in patients undergoing combined anesthesia compared to general anaesthesia after robotic urogenital oncosurgery but the difference did not reach statistical significance. However, plasma levels of NGAL were significantly increased at 6 and 12 hrs in the general anaesthesia group as compared with combined anaesthesia. NGAL may be a better marker in detecting postoperative acute kidney injury. Further studies are needed.

Combined neurolytic block of celiac and superior hypogastric plexuses for incapacitating upper abdominal cancer pain.
To evaluate the efficacy of a combined neurolytic block of the celiac and superior hypogastric plexuses for incapacitating upper abdominal cancer pain. ⋯ A combined neurolytic block of the celiac and superior hypogastric plexuses is more effective than neurolytic celiac plexus block alone in pain relief for patients with advanced upper abdominal cancer.

Mini-nutrition assessment, malnutrition, and postoperative complications in elderly Chinese patients with lung cancer.
To assist healthcare professionals in using the mini nutrition assessment (MNA) and its short-form (MNASF) for early identification of malnourished elderly lung cancer patients, conducting preoperative nutritional support, and improving patients' postoperative prognosis, quality of life, and survival. ⋯ The MNA scale is an effective tool to preoperatively evaluate the nutritional status of elderly Chinese patients with lung cancer. These patients have poor nutritional status. Further investigations are needed to re-examine the correlation between the MNA results and postoperative complications.

Multimodal approach to therapy-related neuropathic pain in breast cancer.
This study evaluated the effects of the multimodal therapy (gabapentin-non steroidal anti inflammatory drug [NSAID]-morphine) on intensity and relief of treatmentrelated neuropathic pain in patients with breast cancer. ⋯ The multimodal therapy ensures adequate cancer-related neuropathic pain control with minimal side effects.
