Dual mobility cup in revision total hip arthroplasty: dislocation rate and survival after 5 years.
Dislocation is a common complication of total hip arthroplasty (THA), particularly when performed as revision surgery. Dual mobility cups (DMCs) minimize the risk of instability when implanted during primary THA. However, their usefulness and survival in revision THA remain unclear. We therefore conducted a retrospective study to assess DMC stability and survival at a minimal follow-up period of 5years after revision THA. ⋯ IV, retrospective study.

DiscoGel® in patients with discal lumbosciatica. Retrospective results in 25 consecutive patients.
Discogenic lumbosciatica is a common disorder in patients between 30 and 40 years old. Because of the frequency and socio-professional impact of this entity, it represents a real public health problem. DiscoGel® is a class III medical device used for nucleolysis to avoid discectomy. The goal of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of this treatment in patients with discogenic lumbosciatica following unsuccessful conservative medical treatment. ⋯ 4.

ReviewCervical spine surgery in ankylosing spondylitis: Review and current concept.
Ankylosing spondylitis of the cervical spine is associated with stiff kyphosis and increased risk of transversal unstable fracture. A spine surgeon may be involved mainly in the management of trauma cases, but in some situations, corrective surgery of a kyphotic cervical deformity is needed. ⋯ This paper is a review of the literature regarding cervical surgery in cases of ankylosing spondylitis. It addresses practical technical questions.

Randomized Controlled TrialIs there any advantage in placing an additional calcar screw in locked nailing of proximal humeral fractures?
The objective of this study was to evaluate the biomechanical effect of an additional unlocked calcar screw compared to a standard setting with three proximal humeral head screws alone for fixation of an unstable 2-part fracture of the surgical neck. ⋯ The use of an additional unlocked calcar screw does not provide mechanical benefit in locked nailing of an unstable 2-part fracture of the surgical neck.
