Review Meta AnalysisEfficacy of ondansetron vs. metoclopramide in prophylaxis of postoperative nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
The incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting is truly high after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Ondansetron and metoclopramide may be effective in preventing it. Our aim was to estimate the efficacy of ondansetron vs. metoclopramide in preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ Based on the evidence, ondansetron has a better effect than metoclopramide for preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. If we ignore the price factor, ondansetron is recommended for adhibition.

Randomized Controlled TrialFast track rehabilitation programme enhances functional recovery after laparoscopic colonic resection.
Fast track (IT) rehabilitation programmes have demonstrated advantages over traditional perioperative care after open colonic surgery; however. their contribution in recovery after laparoscopic colonic surgery is not clearly defined. This study was conducted to estimate the value of FT rehabilitation programme in laparoscopic colonic resections. ⋯ When applied after laparoscopic colonic surgery, FT rehabilitation programme is feasible, safe and may lead to accelerated functional recovery and reductions in postoperative hospital stay.

Comparative StudyQuality of life following laparoscopic-assisted distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer.
This study investigated quality of life (QoL) of patients 6 months after surgery for early or advanced gastric cancer. ⋯ Long-term follow-up results suggest that LADG might help improve the QoL in patients with gastric cancer. Well-designed large scale randomized controlled trials are needed.

Cytomegalovirus colitis in immunocompetent patients: a clinical and endoscopic study.
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) colitis occurs rarely in immunocompetent patients and little detail is known about the clinical features, endoscopic findings and prognosis of CMV colitis in immunocompetent patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and endoscopic features of CMV colitis and its prognosis in immunocompetent patients. ⋯ CMV colitis in immunocompetent patients presented in older patients and in those with other comorbidities. Gastrointestinal bleeding was the most common initial presentation. Despite aggressive clinical manifestations, the prognosis of CMV colitis is good if diagnosed and treated early.

Comparative StudyEarly or delayed cholecystectomy (LC) for acute gallstone pancreatitis? An experience and review.
The timing for the management of gallstones pancreatitis remains a contentious issue. Various scholars have their own achievement in in regards to this issue. ⋯ Our study reveals that early cholecystectomy has nice outcomes in terms of shorter hospital stay and expenses. Proper consultation should be taken from radiological colleague if CBD dilations are >6 mm and contraction of gallbladder appears on imaging modalities. Comorbid conditions, past history of cholecystitis cannot be avoided for proper surgical outcomes. Postoperative complications can be deterred by early LC for mild gallstone pancreatitis. However, large volume studies are essential from different places to answer the debated topic of which management protocol is justifiable for the management of mild to moderate gall stone pancreatitis.
