Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialEffects of remifentanil infusion bis-titrated on early recovery for obese outpatients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
In obese patients functional residual capacity comes down with a possible hypoxemia in postoperative period. In fact many studies has been begun to determine optimum ventilation regulation and the best position for these patients, but the question has not been solved. As remifentanil can reduce of 50% the inhalatory anaesthetic request and reverse Trendelemburg position is extremely useful for these patients, we hypothesized that use of a continuous remifentanil infusion during balanced anaesthesia with sevoflurane, BIS-titrated, associated to reverse Trendelem-burg position could facilitate emergence from anaesthesia in obese patients undergoing laparascopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ Concluding, remifentanil infusion, BIS-titrated, facilitates awakening times from balanced anaesthesia with Sevoflurane in obese patients, submitted to laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialTwo doses of oral ketamine, given with midazolam, for premedication in children.
Oral premedication is common practice in paediatric anaesthesia. The aim of this study was to assess the quality of premedication using oral ketamine, with midazolam. ⋯ Two mgxkg-1 of ketamine given orally with midazolam improve anxiolysis and sedation and achieve more success of premedication, better acceptance of parental separation and better acceptance of face mask for induction of anaesthesia.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical TrialLevobupivacaina, bupivacaina racemica e ropivacaina nel blocco del plesso brachiale.
To compare clinical profiles of levobupivacaine, racemic bupivacaine and ropivacaine at equipotent doses in axillary brachial plexus block in the orthopaedic surgery of wrist and hand. ⋯ In our experience levobupivacaine has been demonstrated to be a good substitute for racemic bupivacaine. Compared to ropivacaine, levobupivacaine induces a longer duration of postsurgery analgesia and, in our opinion, this datum seems to be the most significant.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical TrialWash-in and wash-out curves of sevoflurane and isoflurane in morbidly obese patients.
The aim of this prospective, randomized study is to compare sevoflurane and isoflurane pharmacokinetics in morbidly obese patients. ⋯ The results of this prospective, randomized study confirmed that sevoflurane provides more rapid wash-in and wash-out curves than isoflurane also in the morbid obese patient.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial[Topical anesthesia for cataract surgery with phacoemulsification: lidocaine 2% vs ropivacaine 1%. Preliminary results].
The safety, tolerability and efficacy of ropivacaine 1% vs lidocaine 2% for phacoemulsification using topical anesthesia during cataract surgery, are compared. ⋯ Lidocaine 2% and ropivacaine 1% were safe and effective agents in patients having phacoemulsification with IOL implantation. However, ropivacaine provides more good operative conditions than lidocaine for the surgeon and comfortable surgical circumstances for the patient.
